The General Assembly has failed to passed the legislation that the Republican Party promised the voters last year in the first 100 days. Voter ID, 2nd amendment, 10th amendment and immigration reform will have to wait. Crossover is about to expire and Thom Tillis has steadfastly refused to extend this date so it looks like we will have to wait for 2013.
Here is just one of the bills (HB 721) that will be addressed in committee this week:
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 42-42(a) reads as rewritten:
Ҥ 42-42. Landlord to provide fit premises.
(a) The landlord shall:
(9) Not offer for lease any premises that, at the time the landlord and tenant 9 enter into a rental agreement, the landlord knows to be infested by the 10 species cimex lectularius, also known as bedbugs. The landlord may, prior to 11 leasing the premises, obtain a certificate from a licensed pest control 12 company certifying that the premises are free of an infestation of bedbugs, 13 and the certificate shall serve as conclusive evidence of the landlord’s 14 compliance with the provisions of this subdivision.”
It is apparent that increasing the role of government is the main objective of both political parties.
