Obama calls for mandatory voting in U.S.

President Obama, whose party was trounced in last year’s midterm election due to poor turnout among Democrats, endorsed the idea of mandatory voting Wednesday.

“It would be transformative if everybody voted,” Mr. Obama said during a town-hall event in Cleveland. “That would counteract [campaign] money more than anything. If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country.”

Mr. Obama raised the subject during a discussion of curbing the influence of campaign donations in U.S. elections. The president said he had never discussed the idea publicly before, but said Australia and some other countries have compulsory voting.

The president didn’t commit to pushing a mandatory voting initiative at the federal level but said, “that may end up being a better strategy in the short term” than finding a solution to curbing campaign donations.

just for the record the voting age should be 21 years of age not 18, because what do 18 year olds know anyway, its a democratic scheme to have the youth vote for the Marxist scum and since the youth have been so badly abused and dumbed down in the shanty school systems across the nation which the mentally ill marxist Democrats run,one can only wonder when the voting age will be made even lower , say to age 16, its coming people the demon democrats want all the votes they can musters even at the risk of them destroying themselves and the nation, these are suicidal and mentally deranged people in need of all being exiled to Mugabe’s Zimbabwe. I just wonder how many even now where Zimbabwe is?

I would like to see it go back to only land owners vote. But, hey, I am old fashion.

Who’s going to enforce that, the IRS??
I quit voting about 18 years ago; right about the time I started prepping.
Funny how your activities change when you have such an epiphany
regarding the legitimacy of “your” government…

With regard to compulsory voting in Australia …

Australia

The Australians brought in a system of compulsory attendance at elections in 1924. Voters are obliged to attend the polling station but can leave without voting after ticking their names off. Non-attendees face fines of AU$20-$AU50 (about £9 -- £21) and possible imprisonment if they refuse to pay their fines (as punishment for failing to pay rather than for not voting). In a nation built on immigration, Australian supporters of the system say compulsory voting is a symbol of the integration of new arrivals into the Australian way of doing things. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2005/jul/04/voterapathy.uk

Sounds very much like Obamacare … do what we say or pay fines, etc.

the evil satanic demon Obama is thinking up another tax scheme to use against the American people. screw him, and i surely wouldn’t vote then if he was to do it, and he has no power to enforce it anyway, it must pass out of the senate and Congress , and his EO’S really mean nothing in the end.

“WELCOME TO BABYLON”

Phil, His EOs certainly do “mean something” -- they are the fruit of the oligarchic system planted in Washington DC by the Tyrant Lincoln. Have we, as a nation, not been at ease (rest) and thus unconcerned with what is being brought to us, and have we not also been called to arise, watch, and pray, just as at Gethsemane? (Matt 26:38~45)

And after so many seasons of careful tending and fertilization, the fruit of the statist deception is fully ripe and ready for harvest. The modern-day Pharisees have, indeed, attained the seats of power among men, and now shall they execute [false] judgment from it.

These are the signs of the times, and of seasons, for which we have been exhorted to watch (Luke 21:36, Mark 13:33, 1Thessalonians 5:6, et.al), and be prepared for…

WE HAVE BEEN WARNED
