Congress passed a one week extension for funding the DHS: a government entity that should never have been approved. This is another example where the government will NEVER stop spending your money and will NEVER give up control of the people.
I must admit that I naively thought that the DHS might be shutdown as midnight approached. But with two hours to spare, the brinkmanship gave way to their never ending lust for power.
Will you sleep more soundly tonight knowing that the DHS will provide you security from Domestic Terrorists?
A partial government shutdown was narrowly avoided late Friday evening as Congress approved one week of funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Lawmakers came perilously close to missing the midnight deadline for funding DHS, with the House voting after 10 p.m. to approve a one-week continuing resolution to keep the department open.
The House passed the one-week bill in a 357-60 vote, with 55 Republicans and 5 Democrats voting against it. Earlier in the night, the Senate passed the one-week funding bill in a voice vote, handing House GOP leaders a lifeline.
President Obama is expected to sign the bill late Friday evening.
