The U.S. is sending nearly 300 troops into Iraq to protect the American embassy in Baghdad amid escalating threats that Islamic jihadists who have captured several cities in the region could move in on the capital.

“The personnel will provide assistance to the Department of State in connection with the temporary relocation of some staff from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad to the U.S. Consulates General in Basra and Erbil and to the Iraq Support Unit in Amman,” the White House said in a statement on Monday. “These U.S. military personnel are entering Iraq with the consent of the Government of Iraq. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad remains open, and a substantial majority of the U.S. Embassy presence in Iraq will remain in place and the embassy will be fully equipped to carry out its national security mission. ”

275 Marines to protect a billion dollar embassy? Or 275 to evacuate personnel and destroy it? What will it take for Americans to wake up?

1 Response to US Sending Nearly 300 Troops Into Iraq to Protect Embassy From Islamic Jihadist Threat

I think we need to get all of our Ambassadors out of the middle east. And then make Christians from Muslim countries the first priority for immigration: maybe if they are gone from there they will leave us alone.

Then have no further involvement with any countries in the middle east -- to do so just makes them want to do harm. Without the US to be at battle with, they will battle each other as they seemed wired for always wanting war. Let them battle each other to the point of extinction. And if the people of their country want something other than that, it will be their responsibility to have their own revolution to fight it, just as America had it’s revolution to change from Brittish law. Even Israel has said it would rather fight it’s own battles, but doesn’t have as great a chance of success when the US is interfering over there and providing foreign aid of money and weapons.

We can’t cure all the people and ills of the world, and when we try we seem to make it worse. It’s their culture -- let them embrace it where they are, and leave us out of it.
