This came to my attention last night, and I urge everyone to take a few minutes to examine the verities of such a rapid and profound transition in the behavior of government – any government. Because when a national economy can no longer be held together with lies and “stimulus”, and the populace is no longer placated with bread and circuses, – this is what inevitably happens next. Two weeks later, and there ist sill very little ‘news’ coming from the tumultuous events of Venezuela. Under such circumstances, “No news, is not good news” – rather, it is the worst sort.
(Caracas Chronicles) 20 February, 2016 –
Listen and understand. The game changed in Venezuela last night. What had been a slow-motion unravelling that had stretched out over many years went kinetic all of a sudden.
What we have this morning is no longer the Venezuela story you thought you understood.
Throughout last night, panicked people told their stories of state-sponsored paramilitaries on motorcycles roaming middle class neighborhoods, storming into apartment buildings, shooting at anyone who seemed like he might be protesting.
People continue to be arrested merely for protesting, and a long established local Human Rights NGO makes an urgent plea for an investigation into widespread reports of torture of detainees. There are now dozens of serious human right abuses: National Guardsmen shooting tear gas canisters directly into residential buildings. We have videos of soldiers shooting civilians on the street.
And that’s just what came out in real time, over Twitter and YouTube, before any real investigation is carried out. Online media is next, a city of 645,000 inhabitants has been taken off the internet amid mounting repression, and this blog itself has been the object of a Facebook “block” campaign.
What we saw were not “street clashes”, what we saw is a state-hatched offensive to suppress and terrorize its opponents.
This has been the ultimate end of every communist-governed nation which has ever existed – a violent and precipitous descent into anarchy; with government-directed violence liberally applied to anyone and everyone who dares to speak out against the crumbling regime. And if you believe that “it cannot happen here”, then you are ignoring the facts – the US has more wealth, and thus our economy and society are surviving much longer than those which are smaller and have less “excess wealth” to burn through. But the end must still be the same, for human nature is universal in it’s character, and “being American” obtains no exemption from Natural Law.
The US Federal Government is presently the world’s largest purveyor of Bread and Circuses, but even so, we are approaching the threshold where such ameliorations will no longer suffice to pacify the urban population. And as that strategy fails, the great number of people who will pour into the streets, hungry and angry, with very little left to loose, will be shocking. And so will the casual and widespread violence which they will commit. Thus shall the government justify amazingly expansive “crackdowns” upon the populace; and our civil liberties shall fall victim to domestic violence the likes of which no foreign army could inflict upon us.
We have already witnessed numerous warning tremmors – Baltimore, Ferguson, etc – but as a nation we have not changed our course. If anything, the government and the banksters who have been running our nation into destruction these last 75 years have declared “Damn the torpedoes, and full steam ahead”; ensuring the absolute ugliness of our nation’s fate.
Soon shall the consequences of our society’s course these last four generations be writ large upon every metropolitan area, and the teetering remains of our economy shall also plunge into the social inferno; leaving the vast majority of Americans with nothing – no safe place to call home; no jobs; no savings; shortages and outages of electric power, food, municipal water, and every other essential shal ensue. And while the riot and mayhem continue, delivery of said essentials will continue to be disrupted, thereby triggering further protests and street violence.
Once entrapped in such a maelstrom of mass violence, there is essentially no way out until “the bottom” is reached. A bottom where the vast majority of residents are either dead, or have fled the urban environment; and the remaining few have neither the resources nor the inclination to pursue further violence. In other words, when they reach Peak Hopelessness.
WE HAVE BEEN WARNED
