Under a regulation issued by the Office of Personnel Management, members of Congress and their staff will be able to use federal subsidies worth up to $11,378 per year to purchase any of the 103 different health insurance plans that expressly cover elective abortions that are now being offered on the Washington, D.C. Obamacare exchange.
Members of Congress and their staff currently face a Dec. 9 deadline for purchasing their 2014 tax-subsidized health insurance plans on that exchange.
The federal subsidy members of Congress and their staff can now use to buy health-insurance plans that cover elective abortions contradicts a vow Obama made in a nationally televised speech to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 9, 2009.
It also contradicts the express purpose of the executive order on abortion funding that Obama promised to issue in March 2010 when the House of Representatives was preparing to take its final vote on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Obama-Don’t-Care is fatally broken and should be REPEALED NOW. (And I’m not talking about the web site, I’m talking about O-D-C itself.)
O-D-C is not about providing affordable health care. It is about the government controlling our choices.
We have not yet seen the true cost of O-D-C. Many people document their INCREASED health care premium cost as well as increase deductibles and co-pays. But we have not YET seen to true cost which includes funding the O-D-C subsides. Who will pay for O-D-C? You and I will, both in INCREASED premium costs and in TAXES and increased DEBT to pay for the subsidies.
The President coerced those even in his own party to vote for it (see Nightline report on this).
Those who voted for it did not read it and did not know what was in it.
The President LIED to us about O-D-C.
We cannot keep our current plan.
We most likely cannot keep our current doctor.
Those who don’t want insurance MUST pay a tax for “doing nothing”.
It is NOT affordable.
It is a power grab for the US government to control our health care. So much for the founding principles of our government: “Life, LIBERTY, and the Pursuit of Happiness”.
Is it FAIR that those who are young/healthy to have to subsidize MY health care cost (that’s right, I am in the older/less healthy group who would “benefit”).
Has anyone seen a financial analysis of the TOTAL cost of O-D-C???
There is no magic federal wand that will reduce the cost of healthcare. Period.
There is no something for nothing – nothing the government offers is free – taxpayers pay for it.
REPEAL it NOW and cut the losses.
Restore freedom of choice to taxpayers.
