It was subtle. Most people will not get the reference.
I never watched Netflix until this year or mainstream media entertainment. I admit to not getting the reference. I also canceled Netflix and never looked back.
The series on Netflix was House of Cards. I watched the first two seasons and stopped after being disgusted by the characters and their depravity.

I thought the evil portrayed in House of Cards was over the top. If anything, it was understated.
