Damn the Constitution – Senate Approves ‘Fiscal Cliff’ Deal

Under the Constitution of the United States:

Article 1, Section 7. All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.

The headlines today are praising the Democratic controlled Senate for approving a “fiscal cliff” deal”. The media is strangely silent on the absence of Harry Reid after blocking this legislation and being bypassed by Vice President Biden to complete the deal. What will the Republican controlled House of Representatives do? If they support this “deal” which will automatically raise taxes by 2% on the majority of people through the restoration of personal contributions of Social Security, the average family will lose $2000 off of the top of the first $100,000 in payroll. $50 a week will hurt.

If the House rejects the deal, then the media, president and Democrat leaders will blame (yet again) the Republicans for the financial collapse. I hope John Boehner has a large supply of Kleenex because he will be crying along with the rest of the people who actually work and pay tribute to Washington.
