FLASH: CDC Quarantines incoming flight in Chicago

CDC Declares quarantine on international flight arriving in Chicago.  Police, CDC, and public health officials surround aircraft on the tarmac.

Emergency crews are responding to a reported medical emergency aboard a Delta Airlines flight at Midway International Airport Thursday. ABC7 is reporting the flight has been quarantined.

Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was at the airport and in charge of the investigation of an “unidentified medical condition.”

Emergency crews were on the scene as of about 5 p.m. after a passenger had an unspecified medical issue, according to Chicago Department of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride.

Apparently a passenger originating from Uganda or Ghana developed an illness, possibly a rash of specific characteristics, while traveling to Chicago.   As of 7:15pm/EDT, Fox News is reporting that the quarantine has been lifted and that Midway Airport has returned to “normal operations.”
