UPDATE: Violence against DHS Officers in Petaluma, CA

(SanFrancisco Chronicle) Three federal immigration agents were shot in Petaluma early Thursday while serving a “high-risk” warrant, federal officials said.

The three SWAT officers were shot near a home at McNeil Avenue and South McDowell Boulevard around 4 a.m. All three were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Virginia Kice, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman.

Countless officers from dozens of agencies have gathered in the area surrounding the scene on McDowell Boulevard, and a number of area residents have been evacuated from their homes. Police said Homeland Security officers were conducting some kind of operation and shots were fired, KGO is reporting.

Witnesses told ABC7 News that at least one officer was airlifted from the scene. People are being asked to stay away from the area of South McDowell and McNeil Drive.
