Contrary to what some people may think, I am really not that political – or at least I am not aligned with any particular political party. Hopefully I see things as they are — without loyalty to any particular political affiliation. Mr. Obama and his cohorts occupy much of the news cycle with their self-imposed problems. Therefore, it is difficult to ignore him and his problems. But there are certainly those in the pachyderm party worthy of notice.
Lindsey Graham is a Senator from South Carolina. Like many of his colleagues Graham is a lawyer. And like most lawyers in politics he gave up an undistinguished law resume’ in favor of a career in government. Politics has proven to be a great feeding trough for those who are not particularly good at their primary profession.
Mr. Graham likes to pretend that he is relevant and informed on all matters, large and small, that effect America. The reality is that Mr. Graham is merely your average run of the mill politician — whose main concern centers on what is best for Graham. There are nine military facilities in South Carolina, keeping them open is always on Graham’s mind as he trolls for votes. Without threats of war, there is no need for a large military. It is not difficult to like war when the military industrial complex is your bedfellow!
The reported logic of the proposed new immigration bill is to provide a pathway to citizenship (amnesty) and to tighten border security. However, Graham has led the effort to add 20,000 additional visa slots for meat cutters and trimmers. Like those who settled in Minnesota, the bulk of these new meat cutter visas would be for Muslim immigrants. Graham seems to have sympathy for Muslims and has advocated a thinly-veiled tolerance for Sharia Law. Therefore, his proposal might have deeper consequence than merely further diverting 20,000 jobs from out-of-work American citizens who could be trained in the meat cutter vocation.
In a Face the Nation interview, Senator Graham made the following statement concerning burning the Qur’an, “I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we’re in a war.” Yes Senator Graham, free speech is a great idea —so great that it is a guarantee of the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the cornerstone of our republic. Then Graham went on to say, “And I look forward to working with Senators Kerry, and Reid, and others to condemn this, condemn violence all over the world based on the name of religion.” And all this time I thought that the Muslims were the ones perpetrating violence based on their perverse desire to practice Sharia law and convert the world to Islam.
Graham suggests that “During World War II, we had limits on what you could say if it would inspire the enemy.” Yes Senator Graham we did —on utterances which would give aid and comfort to the enemy —not on burning a Nazi flag or questioning the divinity of the Japanese Emperor. Somehow Graham has gotten his history confused! Americans who don’t like Islam are not the problem —Islamist who don’t like Americans and kill them at every opportunity are the problem – you jackass!
If McCain had become president, Graham would have become Attorney General of the United States. Then what Holder has done with regard to ignoring race specific criminal activity, Graham would have done with regard to shredding the 1st Amendment rights of Americans.
Perhaps Senator Graham needs to purchase a Muslim prayer rug (they have them on e-Bay starting at $14.99) and join in the celebration of beating women, killing infidels, and condemning America. Well I guess he is already one for three in those areas!
