These are verses i have struggled with for some time, struggled in understanding. First let me point out, the verse presented is partial, and incomplete.
The complete verse continues with:
“There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.”
This is where i have been led. We must pray for people of the world to be led into repentance. We can not expect to be forgiven by mercy alone, nor our newly found and proclaimed good deeds.
We are living in a world that knows not of true repentance, They go on stage and preach the gospel of earthly gain and conquest, promote suing each other and earthly gain and prosperity, while at the same time ridiculing the opponents encouraging us to Trust in who? man? The world has dismissed forgiveness, meekness, humility, repentance, all as signs of being weak.
The world is wrong and as stated in John 5:19 And we know we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
Good stuff guys. First things first (self repentance). Judgement will begin at the pulpits. Don’t want to be like Cain -- Gen 4:9 …am I my brother’s keeper?
