One thing that I think is often overlooked in planning is cooking, or more precisely how we plan to cook. Those propane bottles are only going to last so long. One option is a small rocket stove. Rocket stoves work by very efficiently using heat from a small fire by directing it exactly where it will do the most good…under your pan or pot.
They can be made from a few cinder blocks.
Or you can fabricate or buy a steel one.
I know like me, many may have a wood stove in the house, in the summer the last thing you are going to want in your house is a fire in an indoor wood stove.
So go ahead and buy or build yourself a rocket stove, practice with it some and add one one check mark to your preparedness list.
