What does the progressive, leftist media get for value from a tragic event like the Aurora, CO shooting? They get a “mental widget” which allows them to channel and refocus fears and excitement for whatever purpose they desire – in short, they get rent-free space in your mind…but only if you let them move in.
We are seeing it yet again with the Aurora tragedy – take a look at this blazing headline, which implies that another mass shooting has occurred. Notice that it is fine-tuned to refocus the fears of a major city on the possibility that “they’re next”. Then, read the actual article, and learn that there was no shooting, and that the ‘suspect’ in question was suspected of planning to shoot one person (his boss), not a mass shooting. See the highlighted article text, below, and note the repeated efforts to link this non-event with the Aurora tragedy, even though there is absolutely no link between the two ‘news events’. There isn’t even any indication that the suspect intended to commit the crime in a public place, let alone that it was going to be a ‘mass shooting’… Ah, but media hype is a magical thing, isn’t it? Particularly when the truth isn’t a pre-requisite element for a “Breaking News report”. This is a clear indictment against the producers and reporters of Channel 7 News, plain and simple.
I’m not exonerating this would-be shooter – I don’t have nearly enough information to form an opinion on the issue – but one of two things is clearly the case regarding the reporting of this so-called incident: either 1) The news producers at Channel 7 News have information that they are basing their bias on but aren’t sharing with us [lack of journalistic integrity], or 2) they are pumping this up in a sensationalized way regardless of the absence of cause to associate this non-event with the Aurora tragedy [again, lack of journalistic integrity, now coupled with plain old greed].
This is but one data point, but if we were to prepare a scatter chart plotting the media’s honesty and bias as the X and Y axes on a graph, and populate it with hundred or thousands of such data points obtained over the past few years, we would clearly see that the vast majority of media reporting is profoundly lacking in truthfulness/integrity, and is heavily biased. In short, journalistic integrity is DEAD. Everything is an OP-ED, there is no actual NEWS REPORTING available through any major media outlet; hasn’t been for many years now.
To this I can only say that, on the day when the great reckoning comes to town, a lot of these lying a$$ media wolves will be wailing and gnashing their teeth outside the doors…. and it will be music to my ears.

Authorities in Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties have foiled what they believe would have been a mass shooting by a man who was about to be fired from his job, police sources tell ABC 7 News.
Law enforcement sources tell ABC 7’s Brad Bell that the suspect, Neil Trescott, was arrested in Crofton on Thursday night. According to officials, the man was facing termination from his job at Pitney Bowes, the document, mailing and shipping company. The suspect made a reference to the Joker, a source said, in a statement allegedly made by the man suspected in last Friday’s Aurora, Colo. movie theater shooting. Investigators say a search of Trescott’s home turned up more than 20 guns, including assault rifles and handguns, and more than 400 rounds of ammunition. Law enforcement sources say the suspect allegedly called a former co-worker and threatened Thursday night last that he wanted to shoot his former boss. Another law enforcement source says the suspect was prepared to act on his threat. Pitney Bowes’ Maryland offices are located in Lanham. A law enforcement source told ABC 7 that they believe the foiled shooting “could have been another Aurora,” making reference to the mass shooting that happened last Friday in suburban Denver. On July 20, a man shot more than 70 people inside an Aurora, Colo. movie theater during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. The accused shooter, James Holmes, will be formally charged in connection with the shooting next week. This is a breaking story. Check back for updates.
