I just received a bit of junk mail from Senator Kay Hagan.
Normally I would chuck it without further thought, but I skimmed it and found an interesting bit of paranoia being voiced by the Progressive intelligensia:
“If health reform is repealed, all of these protections would be taken away from North Carolinians and insurance companies would be put back in control over your health care – discriminating against individuals with preexisting conditions and canceling coverage when people get sick. It would also allow insurance premiums to continue to skyrocket – forcing many families to choose between purchasing food and paying for a place to live or being able to purchase necessary health care. This would be bad for North Carolinians, bad for business, and bad for our economy.”
“If health reform is repealed … “ This acknowledgment of the possibility of repeal by Kay Hagan is astounding. Somebody (oh, let’s guess: Ted Cruz?) is having a profound effect.
Kay continues with a plea for us to come seek her advice and that of the administration, since the information circulating about healthcare reform can be overwhelming and frustrating.
I have a suggestion for you, Kay:
I think what they are worried about is that now is the time of year when most people who have company provided healthcare learn about what options their company has to offer and how much it will cost. Over the last couple of weeks I have seen people on my Facebook friends list post how much their premiums have jumped up this year.
If the Republicans could have just held firm a couple more weeks, allot more people would be getting the news about their healthcare plans. And I bet allot of people would be ready to get rid of Obamacare because of what it is doing to their healthcare premiums.
So this is sort of making sense that they are expecting a bit of a backlash about Obamacare.
