Burrtrayal!

At 11:47 A.M EST on March 6th, a historic event took place, a freshman Senator from Kentucky rose and stood up for the American people. Rand Paul’s message was simple, get the President to say that there would be NO drone strikes on non-combatant United States Citizens on American soil. Pretty simple message if you ask me.
While many pundits, press, and even one or two other Senators stayed with Mr. Paul, notably absent from this event was our own Sen. Richard Burr. Where was he you might ask. Was he rallying support for our civil liberties here on the home front in North Carolina? No…..Burr was enjoying an all expense paid dinner with President Obama at the Jefferson Hotel. A dinner which was paid for by the President – at least hopefully so and not with taxpayer money.
The purpose of the dinner was for the exchange of ideas on the current financial crisis. All in all there were twelve Republicans invited to the dinner, none from the leadership of the GOP party. So it begs the question, why these 12? Were they perhaps hoping to curry some favor from the President in exchange for promising to support his agenda?
Senator Burr on his website claims to take a strong stance on the current financial issues saying that “First, we need to stop spending money we do not have”, I agree, and so does the GOP leadership. So why did Sen. Burr feel the need to attend a fine dining experience about coming to a financial compromise with the President. He should stand with his leadership on this issue and simply have said “Mr. President, you have our response!”
So while a brave freshman Senator from Kentucky took a stand with the American people for twelve hours, our Senator ate steak and had a nice cozy chit chat with the President. While Sen. Paul managed to choke down a Milky Way and water, I am sure Mr. Burr had a nice wine and steak.
Surely the filibuster by Mr. Paul was being played on the televisions in the bar. Could not Mr. Burr have leaned across the table and said “Hey Mr. President, Rand is asking a good question there. Can you answer it?”. Even better, he could have politely left the dinner to stand with the American people and the people of North Carolina. I wonder then, where does Mr. Burr stand on the issue of drone strikes?

Burr has turned into a RINO since being elected. He has been on the wrong side of several issues. We really need to replace him.

I’ve written Commentary on him in our Davie County newspaper twice. I’ve also contacted his office 2 times on different matters. The first time they sent me a form letter and the second time they totally ignored me. Of course the first time I told them I would do my best to make sure he is not re-elected for another term.
Also he did not to support Paul during his filibuster. I imagine he felt the same way as the shit for brains Mccain and Graham did. I am so sick of Mccain and Graham being interviewed by the lame stream media as if they represent the Republicans. Well maybe they do since a good majority of them bend over and kiss Harry Reid’s ass all the time.
Sorry if I sound mad but I’m mad as hell.
