Here We Go Again – Save the American Dream Part II

Moveon.org is sponsoring another series of Save the American Dream Rally events across the country on Tuesday, March 15th (Monday for Greensboro). The Raleigh event is in Garner but I expect that it will be relocated prior to Tuesday since it will only accommodate 50 people.

As of this post, there are 274  278 268 273 “rallies” planned across the country. This is the time for all good people to stand up for their country and say enough. Does anyone seriously believe that the labor unions and the administration are going to give up their power? Additional information for the rallies in Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Rougemont and Waynesville are listed after the sponsors.

Defend the Dream Action

Republicans in Congress are holding the middle class hostage—proposing a federal budget that would would cut 700,000 to 1 million jobs from our communities and slash funding to support preschool and college students, pregnant women, unemployed workers, and much more. This isn’t a budget, it’s a slap in the face to the public workers, services, and institutions making the American Dream possible. We have until the March 18 budget deadline to push Congress in another direction.

So after work on Tuesday, March 15, we’re mobilizing Defend the Dream events in all 50 states at our schools, libraries, fire stations, hospitals, and parks to stand up against Republican attacks. If we can mobilize thousands of people again for a national day of action before the March 18 deadline, we’ll give progressive fighters in Congress a better chance to stave off cuts and pass a budget that invests in the Dream. We’ll show our support for the public workers, services, and institutions making a difference in our lives—but we’ll also make sure that Congress knows we’ll hold them

Let’s keep the momentum going!

Message from your host, William M.: The Republican budget would kill 700,000 jobs, force states to fire 65,000 teachers, and send 10,000 veterans into homelessness, all while protecting tax giveaways for millionaires. This is nothing less than a full-out assault on the American dream of equal opportunity for everyone. We have to fight…(more) back! So on Tuesday, March 15, just three days before Congress plans to vote on the Republican budget, we’re mobilizing to “Defend the Dream” right here in Garner. We’ll send a message to Republicans, in Washington and in Raleigh, that slashing programs for working Americans while protecting the rich and big corporations is simply unacceptable.

Description Over $100 billion in cuts are proposed for the federal budget, which would include cutting funds for public schools, preschools, college students, veterans, pregnant women and public services. The proposed federal budget would kill 700,000 jobs, force states to fire 65,000 teachers, send 10,000 veterans into homelessness and even jeopardize food safety, all while protecting tax giveaways for millionaires.

Description Let’s let the commuters on 501 headed home for the evening know that Rougemont won’t stand for people with far too much stealing what we’ve struggled to hold onto. DON’T MAKE ME PAY FOR WHAT THE BANKSTERS STOLE! TAX THE RICH, DON’T EAT THEM. THEY DON’T TASTE GOOD.

  1. Brenda Martin says:

I hope that the people that are considering going to this so called “Save the American Dream” rally will research for themselves to see who is really behind this rally. #1 Van Jones (self proclaimed COMMUNIST) and George Soros, Andy Stern, Trumka, and if that’s not enough to convince you not to go, consider the sponsors listed. The majority of those are funded by George Soros.
