The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Make no mistake: we are in a battle of good vs. evil. The lines are drawn and the only decision left is which side you will be on. The time for being on the sidelines is past.
Update:
I received an email from another webmaster right after I posted this article who had posted this same passage earlier this week. I went to church this morning and the pastor asked us to turn to Ephesians 6:10-18 for our scripture reading. My wife’s Bible place holder was on this page. The sermon was based on this passage of scripture. I know that the Lord guides us: we only have to listen.
  1. It is for the importance of Ephesians 6 that I have memorized it in its entirety, and recite it often. God said to “lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” (Deuteronomy 11:18)
    In my opinion, the best and most telling aspect of Ephesians 6 is the word Stand. The original Greek word used was “histēmi”, which actually meant to stand firm, fixed, established or victorious. It was used by the ancients to describe a Roman gladiator standing victorious over his defeated opponent in the arena, sword raised, ready to inflict the killing blow.
    We’re going to have to start believing that the Armor of God will see us to victory, but that takes prayer and supplication. Only through prayer — praying for one another — will our armor be strengthened. Only by building and bolstering our faith will no weak points in our armor be established and exposed to the enemy.
    Therefore, stand victorious.
