Like a moth to a flame.
Here is one of my personal experiences with Democide. (I have already posted an American Homicide incident that was ordered…but not carried out).
Outside of Hill 65 was a village I spent a short time around as a Marine Grunt. One day I witnessed what I thought was a colorful parade filing past the bunker I was at with my Machine Gun team. I had no idea the parade was a funeral procession. It was the first and only Vietnamese funeral procession I ever saw and to my 19 year old American mind/experience I thought it was a celebration.
I wasn’t In-Country long at that time and was one of the last Marines in my platoon to know -- be told what was really going on as all the Salts were grim and silent and no body told me what had happened…at first.
Nicky New Guys -- AKA -- the F word New Guys and or Boots were the last to understand or be told anything about everything.
The Village leader had been cooperating with U.S. -- and in spite of our presence a VC (Viet Cong) assassination team had slipped into the village…surrounded the family (Father, Mother, and multiple children) slit the throat of the Village Leader’s 11 year old son in front of the entire family…and let the rest of the family live. Then they slipped out. MESSAGE SENT.
Hmmm…Democide…a word I hope to never -- ever have any personal experience with again…but fear I could…might…will…as we slip and slide down into the murky Godless evil darkness of Civil War 2…AKA…The End Times.
