Food preparation in a crisis scenario is often one of the most overlooked aspects of survival. Many people simply buy bulk foods, throw them in the basement, and never consider how they will use them if and when the time comes. In fact, I know a few preppers who spend most of their time on firearms, and haven’t the slightest clue how to cook a meal.
For people on a budget, planning ahead is even more vital, and this includes the meals you will eat day-to-day during a collapse of normal supply lines. How much food will you ration? How many calories can you provide your family with so that they can remain healthy? Are all necessary vitamins covered in your stock? How much variety do you have available in order to avoid food fatigue? Many people have not considered these questions.
That is why I am more than happy to promote The Prepper’s Cookbook by Tess Pennington.
I have never read a more complete guide on the issue of survival food anywhere else. It’s not just a recipe book; it covers absolutely everything you need to know, including food budgeting tricks, nutritional content, the best types of foods to store for the money, minimum storage needs per person, the best methods for storing those foods, secrets for tastier meals, and how to cook complete meals with little on hand and still make your family full and satisfied.
