The senior Supreme Court Justice was blitzed on Bordeaux at the State of the Union.
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a liberal hero with a studious demeanor, was pictured nodding off during President Obama’s address to Congress last month.
The 81-year-old judge told a George Washington University audience Thursday night her slumber was wine-induced — she “wasn’t 100% sober” at the speech.
“The audience – for the most part – is awake because they’re bobbing up and down all the time and we sit there stone-faced, sober judges,” Ginsburg said. “At least I wasn’t 100% sober because before we went to the State of the Union we had dinner.”
Ginsburg said fellow Justice Anthony Kennedy had brought “an Opus something or other, a very fine California wine” to a pre-speech dinner the justices attended.
