Banking Industry Braces for Another Round of Cyber Attacks

(LA Times) 26 September 2012U.S. Bancorp is the next major financial institution supposed to be targeted by a hacking group that has disrupted banks’ online operations over the last two weeks.

U.S. Bancorp is aware of the hacking group’s stated plans to attack its website Wednesday, following its attack on Wells Fargo’s online and mobile banking operations Tuesday, spokesman Tom Joyce said.

“We’re working very closely with law enforcement authorities on the issue,” said Joyce, who declined to elaborate.

Recent cyber attacks have hit Bank of America Corp., Citigroup Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. The so-called denial of service attacks involve bombarding the bank’s servers, causing them to slow down or seize up.

Minneapolis-based U.S. Bancorp is the eighth-largest bank holding company by assets, according to Federal Reserve data. The hacking group says PNC Financial Services will be its target Thursday.

Note that BoA, JP Morgan, and many other financial companies are being attacked, as well.  This isn’t a grudge against a single bank – it is a broad-spectrum attack against the banking system itself, and it is escalating at a stunning pace.

The Scenario is coming, folks.  Get your money out now.  Stock your pantry and your ammo box for the days which are coming, for they are not afar off.  The enemy has conspired, and now we must face the test of that moment.

WE HAVE BEEN WARNED
