California Lawmakers Propose A Bill Requiring Gun Owners To Carry Liability Insurance On Firearms, Making Them Liable For Anything That Results From Gun Use

On Thursday, California lawmakers introduced a bill that would require gun owners to carry liability insurance for the specific use of their weapons.

State Senator Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) introduced the measure, which was amended into existing bill SB 505. If the measure is passed into law, it would be the nation’s first state to enforce such a rule.

“Guns kill more people than cars,” Skinner said. “Yet gun owners are not required to carry liability insurance like car owners. Why should taxpayers, survivors, families, employers, and communities bear the $280 billion annual cost of gun violence? It’s time for gun owners to shoulder their fair share.”

There were less than 9 gun deaths in California in 2021. Compare that to auto deaths.

9 PER 100,000 people. (actually 8.5)
There’s 4 million people in Los Angeles alone. So, 9x40=360. But, it being L.A., it accounts for many more than the state-wide average of firearms murders (as well as other murders).
While it’s true that there are more deaths from firearms than motor vehicles nationwide, that’s actually not true in California. Last year it was about 3600 firearms deaths to 4000 motor vehicle deaths.
Most firearms deaths are suicides at any rate. Who’s going to make the insurance claim?
It’s hard to fathom the stupidity of politicians like this Nancy Skinner for many reasons. There’s no need to argue against her using bizarrely false claims like 9 gun deaths for the entire state of California.

Compare California to ooo let’s say Iraq. Yeah, where everybody has a weapon and frequently shoots it. When we ran that government all of that was good.

I am completely convinced that every single day, with perhaps the exception of Sundays, the general populace succeeds in becoming stupider and dummer than dirt. On Sundays, they double down. You simply cannot be this damn stupid and clueless and still be able to dress yourself in the morning.
These peope can’t even comprehend the meaning of words that make up the English language.

Her hidden intention is this is a method for the state to skim the insurance companies info for under the radar gun “registration” Cali boasts the “toughest” gun laws in the country but their gov can’t keep the gangs from killing each other, remember Cali has the highest gun violence record as well.

We do NOT have representative government.
This no longer is a just words statement. It is actionable.
