Coming to a Country Near You: Ban on Healthcare to the Elderly

An elderly woman's hands on walking stick

England’s health care system will be banning doctors and health care workers from treating the elderly. As Sarah Palin correctly pointed out, Obamacare will include “death panels”. I understand that health care costs under government supervision have necessarily “skyrocketed”. Regulations by the government have added a huge premium to the cost of healthcare:

Physicians must follow federal regulations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, known as HIPAA; The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA; The Centers for Disease Control, known as the CDC; and Medicare and Medicaid, among others.

There are also a host of other federal and state regulations covering:

  • Billing and coding;
  • Recordkeeping;
  • Insurance fraud;
  • Patient boundary violations;
  • Informed consent;
  • Licenses to practice medicine; and
  • Delegation of care.

I wonder how much longer we could give our elderly healthcare if the government would allow physicians to practice medicine instead of politically mandated regulatory compliance.

Doctors face ban on denying treatment to elderly

Doctors and NHS managers will be banned by law from denying older patients treatment simply on the grounds of their age, ministers will announce.

Nurses and carers will also face a legal duty to consider the “well-being and dignity” of the elderly.

The legal ban on age discrimination in public services will come into force in October, the Coalition will confirm.

It follows a series of shocking reports showing that older people often suffer sub-standard care and uneven treatment in the NHS and the social care system.

I am not surprised and if Americans don’t wake up, we’ll be right there behind them.

The health care system is rampant with fraud and overcharges. Doctors order unnecessary tests to make up the missing dollars. The “elderly” have been used as pawns and excuses for far too long. I think if congress had to abide by the same laws as we do, have the same care we do , had term limits and some of the other things they exempt themselves from, I think things would be different.
