I bought a little gold back in the seventies, sold it later, bought more and again sold it. I always bought high and sold low.
I think it is a great long term investment! I also think the market is controlled and making money with it is beyond me!

In a long life I have stoped thinking of wealth in terms of dollars, but things of value, for example, I don’t care what my house is worth, other than for taxes.
If I choose to move I don’t care if it sells for a dollar or a billion and my new one cost a dollar or a billion, it is the value to me that is important! I guess that is why I am still poor after all these years!

It is not an investment, it is insurance.

I agree, I once read ” for several hundred years an ounce of gold would buy a good hand gun or a good wool suit” the real value changes very little. Having junk US silver coins is also good for barter.

Lawn, things, useful things tools, guns, wee bit of gold, silver a library of real DYI and farming books and real-estate. Friend made the observation couple years back after a sit-down CFP, although when it came to dollars he and the wife were living in sub-poverty, he was a millionaire, because he owned his little house and the land. Hawaii, a fifty+ year old 3 bed, one and a half bath, knocker-downer with a small yard is over a million dollars.

Good advice!
The name is actually Lon, Lawnmore is an old CB handle.
I have been homesteading fifty years and have all of what you recommended, and at poverty level as well. There is no telling what the place is worth in dollars or gold. The place provides life and so is price less!

My most valuable assets besides the land is books and tools, I could use a few more tractor implements, but we are good to go, what I really need are minions. The kids are in LA, Chicago and Anchorage, primary and secondary counter value targets, oh well..

“Gold is money”, everything else is credit”. J.P. Morgan.
If you can’t hold it in your hand it’s not real. If it can be easily created/recreated it’s worthless. Both gold and silver are real.

Just a mention … I have dealt with Gainesville Coins for 15 years, and have found them reputable and fair. (I have no official connection with them)
