Cumberland authorities weigh charging Trump following rally violence

Last week, Trump visited Concord and Fayetteville in rallies that attracted thousands of attendees. During the rally in Fayetteville, a protester was assaulted as he was escorted from Crown Coliseum by police. A Linden man was later charged in the incident, and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office investigators said Monday that they are considering filing a charge of inciting a riot against Trump.

North Carolina law defines a riot as “a public disturbance involving an assemblage of three or more persons which by disorderly and violent conduct, or the imminent threat of disorderly and violent conduct, results in injury or damage to persons or property or creates a clear and present danger of injury or damage to persons or property.” Inciting a riot is a misdemeanor unless the disturbance causes serious injury or more than $1,500 in property damage, when it becomes a felony.

The sheriff is ignorant in the extreme. His first and sworn duty is to protect the rights of citizens not use abuses of them as an excuse to abuse others. Political speech is among the most cherished and fundamental rights of man.

If he proceeds I would expect Trump to sue the sheriff and his office leaving taxpayers with the bill and hopefully the courage to do the right thing on election day.

Trump’s lawyers will have a field day with that charge. The opposition will try anything to muddy up the water regarding Trump getting elected.

“The Opposition” to Trump includes all elected (D)emocrats, and also most elected (R)epublicans. Therefore, it comes as no surprise at all that an elected official (in this case a sheriff) is threatening to abuse the power of his office, to purposefully inflict injury upon candidate Trump.

And we haven’t seen anything, yet. This political battle is just beginning to heat up -- by summer we will be witnessing real and actual political riots, politically motivated arson and murder, and every other variety of evil.

As I have before stated so many times -- expect the coming season to resemble, and quite possibly exceed, the ‘Summer of ’68’ for its social division, politically motivated hatred, and overt violence.

Considering the social conditions in which these seeds of violence are planted, assassination attempt(s) are far from being beyond question… they are in fact quite probable.
