David’s Prayer at the Raleigh Tea Party

The text for my speech is shown below. I felt that it was important for people to understand the role that Christianity played in the thoughts of our founding fathers as shown in the Declaration of Independence. I also want to stress the importance of organizing a patriot movement that is not decentralized. If we wait too long, our opposition will destroy our country.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.”

“And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.”

We are assembled here today under the label of the Tea Party. There is much discussion that the strength of the Tea Party is that it is not centralized and has no leader. Without leaders, there is no leadership and we will not win the fight that is now here. Monday, Moveon.org is sponsoring the Tax Day – Make Them Pay rallies across the country. I am here to tell you that our opposition is organized, well funded and determined to destroy our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution and our Liberty.

Until we throw off the label of “Tea Party”, stand up and boldly state that we are Patriots who are willing to fight for Freedom, we will be marginalized by both political parties and the media. Our founding fathers declared that our God gave us freedom as natural law. They asked for support of this declaration with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence to pledge what we must also pledge for our children’s freedom. Only with public virtue, will we succeed and there is no better example of public virtue than these three sacrifices: our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

We see that our very foundation of this country is based on an unwavering reliance on God Almighty.

I ask that all men take off their hats and everyone join me in this prayer:

Father, Give us the strength and understanding to live in a country where freedom and equality are revered principles which will never be sacrificed. Restore our morality and virtue so that we will be able to have and keep a republic. Let us lead by example with sacred honor so that we will be worthy in your eyes. Judge us and discipline us as a loving Father. I ask that you bless this event today and that the speakers will provide solutions and leadership. In Our Lord Jesus’ name I pray.
