Although the president is partially to blame for the credit rating downgrade, most of the blame belongs on Congress. Both parties did not address our debt and spending addition even when warned of the consequences by Standard & Poor’s.
The blame can’t be laid at the feet of the 112th Congress in any way. The 111th Peolsi lead Congress created more dept that all other Congressional sessions COMBINED. Obamas budget increased our national debt in a single years span by more than all other Presidents COMBINED. We are where we are now because Americans have been asleep at the wheel of our own vehicle (in this case America). I’m pretty sure we started taking the no doz in 2010 and in 2012 will be wired out. The process took decades and it will take several election cycles and some meaningful “wall to wall” counseling on the part of newly elected fiscal conservative to repair.
While I agree with your assessment of laying most of the blame on the Democrat led Congress starting in 2006, the passage of the debt ceiling legislation shows that this 112th Congress is not serious about addressing our spending addiction.
Where is our national budget? How many more continuing resolutions will be passed? And now a Super Congress because the regular Congress cannot do their Constitutional duty? Where are the Congressional hearings that were promised prior to the election?
