In spite of everything, over the years, I never gave up Thanksgiving. The only one I missed was the one in 1967. I was in the Army and traveling overseas at the time. The meal is smaller these days, bit it still means the same.
Thanksgiving, everyday.
However we would do ourselves well to research the origins of christmas, and the many “traditions” the roots of which are in paganism.
I understand the background of today’s Christmas. Christ was probably born in the fall but Christmas was a good replacement for the winter solstice celebrations. Your comment does not apply to the point of this article. Whatever the Holy Day, we should give thanks to our Lord for His blessings and beg forgiveness for our transgressions. Maybe that is the point of the evil side of this nation: attack our Holy Days in any way to marginalize our faith in God.
These demons hate even the mention of The Lord Jesus Christs name, we should be shouting it in their faces every day.
2 Timothy 2:15
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
That’s the heart of research. We love God’s word and we want to teach the truth. If it goes against tradition, so be it. The goal is not to attack a holiday. It’s to show thyself approved. If the tradition is false, let people know.
As for Christmas, I’m much more concerned about the details concerning the birth of Jesus. For example, were the wise men actually at the birth of Jesus as shown in the Nativity scene?
They reported to Herod when they arrived. If they were there when Jesus was born, why would Herod say to have all the male children killed 2 years and under? Hmmmm…. Study, to thyself approved……
A dad knows every detail about the birth of his child. What about God? We need to get the details right. For more info, stansylvester59@aol.com.
‘Holi’ days do not equal Holy!
David,
Once again changing the name does not fix the problem!
You were the one who brought Christmas into the discussion of Thanksgiving. I consider Christmas to be a Holy Day commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Most holidays in this country are not Holy and the few Holy Days seem to be another excuse to take a day off from work to spend more money on commercial items. It is up to us how we celebrate Holy Days as a nation and as a family. But that was not the point of the post as I pointed out earlier.
Turning away from paganism and back to God should be the point of all our discussions.
i do not believe this Nation or world is going to be healed until we do.
Nothing new under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 12: 12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
God know your heart. If you celebrate His Son’s Birthday at Christmas or a pagan event, God knows.
Choose wisely.
