From a former UK soldier: If the LEOS come for the children use Glossy black paint and oil (motor or olive) in balloons. Maybe add a bit of fine sand for scratching. Blocks face shields, windshields, gun sights and actions, etc. Perhaps staff slings may be used for increased range or high arcs over obstacles, if necessary.
