From Jesus Christ to Julian Assange: When Dissidents Become Enemies of the State

Image result for the truth will set you free

“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” — George Orwell

When exposing a crime is treated as committing a crime, you are being ruled by criminals.

In the current governmental climate, where laws that run counter to the dictates of the Constitution are made in secret, passed without debate, and upheld by secret courts that operate behind closed doors, obeying one’s conscience and speaking truth to the power of the police state can render you an “enemy of the state.”

That list of so-called “enemies of the state” is growing.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is merely the latest victim of the police state’s assault on dissidents and whistleblowers.

On April 11, 2019, police arrested Assange for daring to access and disclose military documents that portray the U.S. government and its endless wars abroad as reckless, irresponsible, immoral and responsible for thousands of civilian deaths.

Whitehead misses the mark on the nature of Jesus. “A radical nonconformist who challenged authority at every turn…” is not a wholly accurate depiction of Christ. Christ continually conformed his actions to the will of God the Father. In Gethsemene, Christ asked that “this cup” be passed from Him but, ultimately, acknowledged that he would submit to the wishes of God (“not my will but thy will”).

If you want to read Whitehead’s take in the context of Christ being a non-conformist to unlawful and ungodly temporal leaders, both civil and religious, I think that is fine. However, Christ was not a rabble rouser for the sake of destroying existing orders. Rather, he wanted to show those existing orders the error of their ways and to help them to choose to turn back to God and God’s ways.

I do not disagree with much of the substance of Rutherford’s piece--I enjoy his offerings on a regular basis--but this disconnect must be noted, especially given that the post was made during Holy Week.

What a half-baked crock of excrement. Has Whitehead even read the New Testament? Jesus Christ never challenged the Roman Empire. Sorry, Dickhead or Whitehead, he challenged the Jewish elite.

That being the case, I will disregard the rest of his drivel and Biblical masturbatory exercise.
