Playing G-d, are we? We were warned against this…
He said with moral people, in a free market. As a surgical oncologist for whom genetics and genomics play an increasingly important role, the potential for technology like this to improve our lot in life. But the potential for misuse is indeed enormous….
So, David …
Are you suggesting that repair of transcription errors such as the one shown at precisely 2:42 in the video might correct abnormal behaviors of individuals like “Sammy the Squirrel” ?
Anything is possible. I was thinking about the possibilities for anti-viral therapies. I doubt most people understand molecular biology to realize the potential of this technology. But the concern definitely is one of ethics. Something this world is lacking.
I can only start to imagine what evil will be done with this.
Evil has no bounds so imagine the worst, my friend. Sci-Fi is alive and well…
“Ethics”. A term that has been relegated to the dustbin of ancient myth. Today’s scientists have few, if any, “ethics”.
It’s all about the Benjamins, now. THAT is their new “ethic”.
