PREMIER OF ONTARIO CONFIRMS 25% TARIFF ON US ELECTRICITY TO 1.5 MILLION AMERICANS, STARTING MONDAY

Canada’s vast oil reserves are located in Western Canada. This oil comes into the United States through pipelines and then is sent back into Eastern Canada for refining, heating or other uses. Canada canceled their own pipeline to save money. If the US placed a corresponding 25% tariff on the oil going into Eastern Canada, I believe Canada would quickly blink.
From Grok:
- A 25% tariff on U.S. oil imports to Eastern Canada would generate significantly more revenue ($2.84 billion/year) than a 25% tariff on Ontario’s electricity exports to the U.S. ($98.13 million/year), based on the estimated volumes and values from 2023 data and the X post context.
- The disparity reflects the much larger volume and value of oil trade compared to electricity exports, as well as Eastern Canada’s heavy reliance on U.S. oil for non-electrical uses versus Ontario’s surplus electricity exports being a smaller, optional trade.
Canadians. The turd that won’t t flush.
Go ahead Trump put a tariff on the oil going thru the pipelines and shut that dumb ass fat bloated spoiled brat Ontario leader down, make him squeal or beg. We owe them nothing because they surely do nothing for us but loot our treasury. It’s time for these people to learn a hard lesson in facts. Let their wacko and weirdo people up there start screaming and removing them from their positions in which they have been in far too long.
The fact that some or all of electrical grid is tied into Canada, or any other foreign country is insane from the starting line. Goes to show you how completely broken we are as a country. The most important system in our country, part of our electric grid, is dependent upon a foreign country. Abject insainity.
Well, it made sense while we were good friends, from a certain point of view. Our politicians are behaving like children. All this conflict because certain of them refused to do their jobs regarding the border…
I encourage the US to do what it needs to do to ensure fair trade, rather than free trade.
You have my vote, although I certainly appreciate that at this point it doesn’t really matter. There are lessons to be taught, here, and it seems the only way to do it is to demonstrate certain truths.
God Bless America.
Remember Mike what the imposter bastard child Tradeu did three years ago when you were out with the truckers protesting what your government was Doing and they shut down the protest, blocked truckers checking and savings accounts of which they couldn’t get there funds out of the bank and many other grotesques things the government leaders did to the innocent Canadians and now the people forgot what the scumbags did, it’s hard to believe what short memories the Canadians have, I know we have the same issue here in the U.S. with moron imbecile democrat liberals with short memories and what their leaders do them. Me personally I pray trump shuts the entire Candian border down and tariffs the liberal leaders in Canada so high they will have to contend with the masses of Canadians protesting against them and not us. far too long we have been used with the tariff schemes of not only the Canadian government but Europe as well.
We vividly recall what Justin did three years ago…. in sum, provided the country with an object lesson in the extent to which the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is in fact a Charter of Duties & Privileges. Not worth the paper it’s printed on, when it comes to doing things the government disagrees with, even though those things might be provided for in the text.
We do not expect anything to improve, especially now that Carney is going to be PM. Our relationship with our American friends is going to be reduced, in favour of closer ties with those leftist lunatics in Europe. Climate change, carbon reduction, digital currency… it’s all coming to Canada much faster now, and when the next election is required by law, eighteen months hence, I will be very surprised if it is still held.
President Trump has made the mistake of noticing how badly the US has been used by its ‘closest friend and ally’, objected to that treatment, and taken steps to force something like a negotiation.
How dare he?
These liberal morons are going to get us all killed.
God Bless America.
Canadians have no idea what’s headed their way. 80% of their manufacturing sector is made up of U.S. car parts. The rest is U.S. defense parts. Trump delayed the tariffs so U.S. auto manufacturers could move their supply chain. Canada’s GDP is slightly smaller than California’s. There’s not much they offer that can’t be replaced. They are damn proud of their Potash though. I believe Trumps immediate goals in threatening tariffs is reshoring manufacturing. And he’s getting fantastic results. If these countries that continue to close their markets to us under the guise of “Free Trade” continue I think Trump will invoke reciprocal trade and then the rest of the world in a world of hurt.
I spent a part of yesterday on Reddit on a Canadian sub. Buy Canada. These people are clueless. But that group hates America and Americans. So screw them.
I also read that some fat Karen from Canada said that the U.K. would use their nukes to protect Canada from Trump. What an idiot.
Wow. The UK? Really?
The stupid….it burns…..
That was an elected Canadian official. A rather large lady. I have a few conservative Canadian friends. I feel bad for you guys. But I do think there’s a lot of posturing going on right now and things will quickly normalize. It will certainly help getting the Princess Fairy Queen of the North out of there.
Now that Carney has been anointed, we are in serious trouble. It does not seem likely that the posturing will end anytime soon, and so the beatings shall have to continue until morale improves.
Buckle up pal. I can’t believe they picked this guy. I’ll almost guarantee you he will come out on the attack. And Trump will bitch slap him across his own country. Hang in there.
We are counting on it.
Tariffs are generally just a political version of a pissing march. Unless one party has an overwhelming advantage they aren’t all that useful.
You have no idea what you’re typing about.
I do business over the border and generally speaking the Canadians are so tired of their politicians they eagerly welcome becoming the 4th-6th State. Turd-Doe just raise Canadian Capital Gains Tax to 66% and boy are they PISSED…Eh! They cant stand Castro’s Son!
