When a government confiscates your personal property when you die and taxes have become tribute, is this Liberty?
From CNBC:
In 2010, after a year in which the estate tax was zeroed out altogether, Congress passed a law that set the estate tax at 35 percent and exempted all estates under $5 million, adjusted for inflation. That law expires in January 2013 when the exemption will fall to $1 million and the tax will rise to 55 percent.
Our government has become our oppressors. We can always go back to our founding fathers for the wisdom necessary to infuse our souls with the courage necessary to stand up of our freedom:
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson
The attacks on the 1st and 2nd amendments are the logical progression by the government to achieve the goals necessary to subjugate the people. But who are the people? The people who are buying assault weapons in unprecedented numbers in anticipation of a revolution/civil war that is actually the goal of the “government”? Or the people who sit back and continue to pay tribute so that the government can buy votes with your “taxes”.
Even de Tocqueville while visiting from France was able to understand a fundamental tenet of our representative republic:
“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”
Alexis de Tocqueville
So the question is simple: who are “the people” who represent the original intent of our founding principles? The answer is just as simple: the people who now recognize that the government is responsible for destroying our country. If you do not trust the government, you have taken the first step in becoming one of “the people” who will restore freedom and bring criminals to justice.
David DeGerolamo
The question becomes, how else do we resist, beyond the standard political ways of writing to congressman, or protesting at capitol building. If you are inclined for armed resistance, who will care for your family while you carry out your mission? Who or what is the target? How do you garner enough support from the public so that you or your group is not immediately arrested and labeled a terrorist organization.
Perhaps the better way is to get your local county sheriff to pledge not to allow federal law enforcement to operate in your county for constitutionally illegal activity such as gun registration or confiscation. The example would be the judge and sheriff down in Texas who refused to allow UN troops in their county if it came to that. I’m not sure working with your local sheriff if this is the answer but it seems that it may prove more successful than trying to go it alone or in small groups.
There is no political solution. Resistance takes on many forms. If you are worried about your family’s welfare, what will their welfare be under slavery?
