I know that the original protest was the decision to start an alliance with Putin instead of Russia. I do not know if this is still the reason for the protests even though the opposition leader states that as one of their objectives.
Reading Taki’s Mag a week ago, a commenter with a Russian name said that the Ukraine is divided East/West with ethnic Ukrainians (I forget what they are called, google it if you’re interested) in the East who want more seperation from Russia, and ethnic Rus in the West brought in after the Holodomor who are pro Russia.
Not the most trustworthy source, I know, but it does fit with current events.
