Occupy Raleigh Calls All of North Carolina to Occupy the Highways and Participate in the March 25 Day of Action
Occupy Raleigh joins in the call to March on our Nation’s Statehouses on March 25 for a national day of action. We march because we intend to restore citizen control of our legislature and to expose corporate influence over our public officials.

We the People of Occupy Raleigh stand in solidarity with the Walking Occupation (Walkupy) and pledge our support and participation in this action.
We call upon the legislature to reject Citizens United and to no longer recognize corporate personhood in the state of North Carolina.
We bear witness to the corruption of our democratic processes that has become business as usual in our state. We bear witness to the devastation wrought upon our neighbors and friends through predatory and irresponsible lending practices. We bear witness to the dismantling of citizens’ basic constitutional rights to Free Speech, Peaceful Assembly and even Due Process. And we stand in opposition to all plans to disenfranchise voters.
We bear witness to a campaign of fear and uncertainty being waged against the people of North Carolina and the Nation at large. Families are being turned out of their homes. Essential healthcare is being withheld. Jobs are cut, and factories closed. Homeowners, consumers and students are saddled with crushing debt. Rights and Liberties are being stripped away. American communities are being destroyed. And our representatives work covertly behind closed doors where the People’s voice is silenced. These injustices must end.
This is a statewide action! Charlotte, Asheville, Boone, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Durham, Chapel Hill, Rocky Mount, the Outer Banks, Wilmington and all points in between, your voices and numbers are needed!
Fred Fletcher Park
Fred Fletcher Park is one of the older parks in the City of Raleigh. There are entrances to the park off of St. Mary’s Street and Glenwood Avenue. The park is the former campus of the Methodist Home for Children and was purchased by the City in 1982.
Today the Parks and Recreation Department utilizes the two remaining buildings in the park. The Garris Building houses the Youth Programs Division. The Borden Building, renovated in 1992, is used as a rental space for weddings, receptions, meetings and small conferences. Fletcher Park has other amenities including a picnic shelter, small play area, an amphitheater, a softball field, a multi-purpose field, tennis courts and outdoor basketball courts.
For questions or to rent the Borden Building or Fletcher Amphitheater you may call (919) 831-6851. The softball and multi-purpose fields may be reserved through our Athletics Department by calling (919) 831-6836.
