More evidence the world is ditching the dollar…Layoffs at McDonalds…Oil price jumped today.

I may have mentioned this previously, but it stands to be repeated.

I am relying on a electric chain saw to supply us with heat, it is recharged with our solar system. After several years one of the lithium batteries quit, I took it apart to see if I could fix it. It can’t be easily repaired, what is worse is it is full of electronic control circuits, all of them subject to EMP damage!

I now keep a spare battery in a Fariday cage. Our main batteries are lead acid, while not as efficient as lithium, they are very robust and are less likely to be damaged by an EMP.

If possible have backup charge controllers and inverters in a Fariday cage as well. With a good analog meter, charging can done manually with a switch, just be sure it can handle the current, I am using a 300 amp one.
