We celebrated the 235th signing of the Declaration of Independence yesterday. How many of us considered the true meaning of the preface and understand that the concepts are more than words, they are our country’s lifeblood:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.
It is the right of the people to alter or abolish our government when it becomes destructive to these ends. These ends? These rights? Powers from the consent of the governed? Our founding fathers who signed this declaration of independence were traitors to the crown because they recognized that the rights endowed by our Creator are more important than serving a country whose leaders have fallen from grace.
This concept is lost in our nation today. It is more than words: it is our sacred duty to fight to regain these rights. Why would I use “regain” instead of “keep”? We have to first acknowledge that our country no longer cherishes the intent of this declaration of freedom but even more importantly the divine power that gives us this right.

Our president has purposely left out “Creator”. He has abandoned Israel, our Judeo/Christian founding principles and his oath to the Constitution. We must understand that our Declaration of Independence is more that words: it represents a sacred covenant between our Creator and the people. The delineation between good and evil throughout history is always clearly seen but overlooked by people who refuse to accept truth. Our founding fathers stood up to evil and tyranny against all odds because they believed that our unalienable rights from God were more important than life itself. The people in Germany, China and Italy did not stand up and suffered the consequences.
Will we understand that the Declaration of Independence is more than words and stand up to tyranny in time? Our government is bankrupt, our leaders have abandoned our founding principles and the time to act is past due. If this be treason, then I am in good company.
