Dear President Pro Tempore Berger and Chairman Apodaca,
Allow HB 318 out of Senate Rules for a committee hearing and support HB 318, the Protect North Carolina Workers Act.
HB 318 would help assure that all new non-farm jobs go to citizens, not illegal immigrants. Today North Carolina is in effect a sanctuary State allowing jobs for illegal aliens.
We must get rid of the big loopholes in our current State E-Verify statutes.
We are surrounded by states who have tougher E-Verify laws than we do.
We require a photo ID for one to receive unemployment benefits, so shouldn’t we require E-Verify to make sure jobs only go to legal residents?
Unscrupulous companies often don’t advertise new jobs, they just ask their illegal employees to invite other illegals to apply. E-Verify would stop this wrong.
Our State offers tens of millions in tax incentives to create jobs. Shouldn’t we make sure these new jobs go to citizens?
The Legislature cut unemployment benefits, the earned income tax credit, etc to encourage citizens to go to work. Shouldn’t we make a similar effort to insure new jobs are only open to legal residents?
Your voters back home do not want illegal immigrants taking jobs that belong to unemployed citizens. Move HB 318 forward during this Session.

Farmer Brown swear up and down that he can’t run his farm without cheap labor he gets from hiring illegals. They say white boy wants to much money for his labor and will not work as hard as illegal will. Farmer will fight to keep the cheaper source of illegal labor.
