I was in church this morning and overheard a conversation on how bad 2011 was. The next statement was one that I have heard repeated every year since 2009: next year will be better.
Few people in my church know that I am an active right-wing terrorist in the eyes of the government because I do not talk politics at church. Usually. Most of the time. But I did insert myself into this conversation and asked why 2011 was a bad year. Since most people are having a bad year, I will let you insert your reasons why this was a bad year for you at this point of the story.
And then the oft repeated phrase was once again stated: “I know that next year will be better”. Anyone who knows me already knows that I had to ask: “How do you know that next year will be better” although I knew the answer. As expected, the same answer that I have heard for the past three years was given: “Because it can’t get no worse”. (Yes I know that is a double negative).
Unfortunately for the past two years, the ensuing new year did get worse. I did tell this small group that 2012 will indeed be worse and probably much worse than 2011. Oops. At that point, I switched to my “church mouse” mode and just said that they should enjoy this Christmas and their time with their families.
What else should I have said? Does the average person realize that the European Union may collapse within 10 days even accounting for the miraculous Bernanke IMF bailout this week? Does the average person realize that the collapse of the EU will bankrupt all of our US major banks? Does the average person know that the ensuing bank holiday will…
Well let’s just stop here and realize that if the average person had a grasp of American principles, economics and finance, we would be in the streets now. So I will repeat my message:
You should enjoy this Christmas and your time with your families
Because it is almost time for the SHTF. If you think that 2012 will be better, please read this article before posting a comment.

Ummm … David … you’re doing a lot of writing these days …
“You should enjoy this Christmas and your time with your families”

The ways things are going, I doubt I will be writing much in the future.
