(NewAmerican.com) “Another step toward the North American Union (NAU) was announced on Tuesday March 27th by the U.S. Department of Defense in its press release noting the “inaugural trilateral meeting” of North American defense ministers in Ottawa, Canada. It was attended by Canada’s Minister of National Defense Peter MacKay, Mexican Secretary of National Defense General Guillermo Galvan, and Mexican Secretary of the Navy Admiral Mariano Mendoza, along with U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.”
Notice the insignia on the nose of these Blackhawk helicopters – from what I have been able to gather, it is the new “NAU-Peacekeeping Forces” emblem. These combined US/Canadian/Mexican forces are under the command of US NORTHCOM/5th Army.
Yes, this is the same command which will be cross-training with Russian Special Forces next month, in conjunction with the NATO Summit. Of particular interest is a reference in the press release to a “North American Leaders Summit” which begs further explanation. At this point, the pattern is rather easy to spot – US Sovereignty is being discarded faster than you can say, “New World Order”.
Here is an excerpt from the statement released jointly by the US/Canada/Mexico military “Trilateral Commission”:
“Our countries are committed to working together to address challenges in the region. We know that transnational threats require transnational responses. With this in mind, we have agreed to enhance our cooperation to support efforts to counter transnational criminal organizations and to respond to natural disasters in the hemisphere.
“Our meeting today has established the framework necessary to build North America’s resilience by pursuing a practical agenda built on sustained trilateral cooperation on issues related to defense. As part of our initial work plan, we intend to:
- Develop a joint trilateral defense threat assessment for North America to deepen our common understanding of the threats and challenges we face.
- Explore ways to improve our support to the efforts of civilian public security agencies in countering illicit activities in our respective countries and the hemisphere, such as narcotics trafficking.
- Explore how we can collaborate to increase the speed and efficiency with which our armed forces support civilian-led responses to disasters.
- Continue to work together to strengthen hemispheric defence forums.
“We have agreed to meet on a regular basis in order to build on today’s historic meeting and continue our cooperation in addressing shared continental threats.
“We will pursue this trilateral agenda respectful of national sovereignty and in coordination with other agencies in our respective governments. The results of our meeting will be conveyed to our respective leaders in advance of the upcoming North American Leaders Summit.”

I cannot find this emblem on the Northcom site or on any Internet searches. Can anyone verify this emblem?
There are no “approved” sources regarding this insignia which I could find, either. I circulated the image among my contacts, and was told that it (or something similar) has been seen in California, Colorado, Texas, and Washington State, and is associated with NORTHCOM in some way, and that aircraft with this (or a similar) insignia participated in at least one “trans-national” operation on our southern border late last year.
The reason I have to qualify these statements with the “(or similar)” is that at least one respondent stated that what they saw was “very similar, but also included a wreath around the globe”, in typical UN style. Another stated that “what I saw had the sword aligned vertically, but was otherwise identical”. Since I have no definitive answer on the issue, I leave these statements open to your own consideration…

I checked with the local Blackhawk group. I was told that this was not a valid insignia and was done using Photoshop.
Interesting. I wonder why this was mocked up, then, and by who?
I have seen a number of insignia lately that I am absolutely unfamiliar with. Considering the wild proliferation of new agencies and working groups (Joint Task Forces, etc.) it is functionally impossible to keep up these days.
I opened the image in Photoshop and have to agree with the soldier’s assessment. The image is straight (no curvature on the nose of the helicopter).
Unfortunatly, I do not have the benefit of owning a copy of Photoshop…but this is certainly good enough reason to remove the image… glad I have already done so. Do you know the source of the image?
Thanks, LT
We will never know the source of the image. We can guess at their motives.
Regardless of the veracity of the logo on the blackhawks in the photo I chose to use, the story itself is completely verified -- NORTHCOM itself issued the press release, and there were over a dozen secondary sources which referenced and/or quoted it in their reporting. Obviously, no press/media representatives were invited to the actual meetings, “for the sake of national security.” Considering the non-information which the press-release contains, we are then left to assume what we will in regards to the actual policy and mission(s) of this new military entity…
I have amended the post with a different picture and struck the reference to the insignia.
