North Carolina Republicans scrapped the state’s long-lived pistol permit requirement Wednesday, aided by the absence of several key Democrats, which gave Republicans the numbers they needed to overturn Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto for the first time since the GOP lost their veto-proof super majorities in the 2018 elections.
No longer will North Carolinians buying a handgun need to get permission first from their local sheriff. They’ll still need a federal background check to buy from a licensed dealer, which means handgun purchases in the state will be treated the same as rifles and shotguns.

The permit was the result of Jim Crow laws to prevent blacks from being armed.
This puts a big black blot on his rotten Carrer for the last twenty-five years of covering up all of the democratic high crimes in our state. This liberal P.O.S. only takes his marching orders from Obama, and his wing man Eric Holder the Waco murderer. I can’t wait to see this garbage bag go in 2024, and I pray that his AG Stein goes with him. All Stein is doing is covering up the crimes for cooper for the last twenty years as AG.

You might want to temper your praise. In my personal discussions with Paul Valone years ago, he did not want to pursue Constitutional Carry because there was no reward in it for him or his GRNC organization.
As far as I know he has been pretty decent in trying to secure better gun rights for us all in our state, and he is up against a liberal lunatic Marxist commie governor, as well as liberal lunatic AG and the communist loons in the senate and the house chamber. he does not win every time because in this state the governor vetoes everything but filth, perversion, Deviancy and anti-Christian bigotry. I have been living here long enough to know the antics of this governor and his commie party who are interlinked arm and arm with their media cohorts who pervert and twist the truth to lies and deceptions. this is what they are good at and noted for. the media in this state, out of Raleigh and charlotte and nothing more than chim-com mouthpieces and spikes for the Marxists.
