North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a successful test of a new engine for an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), its state media said on Saturday in the latest claim of making advances in its arms program that has brought U.N. sanctions.
Tension has remained high on the Korean peninsula after the North’s nuclear test and a long-range rocket launch earlier in the year and South Korean and U.S. troops conducted large-scale joint drills amid harsh rhetoric from both rival Koreas.
The engine was ignited at Kim’s command and released a fiery blast, and the test showed the indigenously designed rocket fulfilled all required conditions, KCNA said.
“Dear Comrade Kim Jong Un said now we can mount an ever more powerful nuclear warhead on a new intercontinental ballistic rocket and put the den of evil in the United States and all over the world within our strike range,” KCNA said.
If the test had been a failure, we would never hear that Kim ‘supervised’ it …
North Korea, under worst case scenario, must understand they could find themselves suddenly the largest parking lot in Asia. I know that plan exists in the five sided building. We just need a (new) strong President (as opposed to the present radical farce) to dust it off…
Under this extremely worst case scenario China would be given the preemptive strike M.A.D. notice. (Just to avoid any serious misunderstandings)
I would prefer gambling with M.A.D. with China then letting a real life 007 caricature loony tune lob an EMP in on U.S….as that’s where we may be heading.
That won’t happen until there is a President with that actual follow through possibility (oh where is Pre-Watergate Nixon on Christmas Eve when you really need him?). The community organizer wiener probably has a white flag hidden away…just in case somebody actually does EMP U.S. Now, that would be a radical transformation?
M.A.D. is a tactic that worked for a long time…it won’t work against the Islamist Terrorists (just going to have to shoot and blow them all up the old school way) but would still work against China if we had no choice but to turn the northern half of the Korean peninsula into the greatest example of how not to threaten to destroy the U.S. grid and kill 90% of Americans in a year… since Japan was converted into being a wonderful trading partner and buying a bunch of our debt…after we lost out temper the last two times.
As Judy Tenuto says: It could happen!
