Although the whole thing could have been solved with a few over-produced PSA’s and a video of doctors and nurses line dancing.

How long does it take for red blood to turn dark? 5m? I smell a rat. And those vinyl bed covers, are they pervious? Something isn’t right with this story.

Done in an effort to save money. And while cutting costs in healthcare is generally a good idea there are some areas of healthcare where it is not possible to do so safely. Hospital beds are expensive, costing thousands of dollars…. a replacement mattress if even available can cost a couple thousand or more. One of the best dollars spent in healthcare when it comes to infection prevention is the one spent on good custodial people and processes.
