Who Said This?

“Obeying the dictates of prudence and providing for the general safety and welfare, confident of the rectitude of their intentions and true to their obligations to duty and honor, they accept the issue thus forced upon them, unite their fortunes now and forever with the Confederate States, and take up arms for the common cause, and with entire confidence of the justice of that cause and with a firm reliance upon Divine Providence, will resolutely abide the consequences.”

The Loss of Big Ideas

by T.L. Davis

What is the cost of socialization; of regulation; of Stalinization? Consider for a moment how many government agencies were created just in your lifetime. Consider also that from around 1900, a bit before and a bit after, the internal combustion engine was created, electric automobiles, steam automobiles, the airplane, electric lights, the telephone, indoor plumbing, etc, etc, etc all the way up to nuclear weapons and NASA rockets in the 1960’s. Even the television and the internet were invented before 1970 even if the internet was in a very basic form. The silicon Chip was even invented in 1961.

What has been created since 1970? No new propulsion systems. Even the hydrogen fuel cell either works with an internal combustion engine or creates electricity to power the automobile. What has happened to that great entrepreneurial spirit? That creativity? Are we to understand that the only thing we have been able to develop in the nearly same 60 year period after 1960 are government programs? Everything we have today was invented before 1970.

Southern Version of The Battle Cry of Freedom

Our flag is proudly floating on the land and on the main,
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!
Beneath it oft we’ve conquered, and we’ll conquer oft again!
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!

Our Dixie forever! She’s never at a loss!
Down with the eagle and up with the cross!
We’ll rally ‘round the bonny flag, we’ll rally once again,
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!

Our gallant boys have marched to the rolling of the drums.
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!
And the leaders in charge cry out, “Come, boys, come!”
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!–

Our Dixie forever! She’s never at a loss!
Down with the eagle and up with the cross!
We’ll rally ‘round the bonny flag, we’ll rally once again,
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!

They have laid down their lives on the bloody battle field.
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!
Their motto is resistance –“To tyrants we’ll not yield!”
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!–

Our Dixie forever! She’s never at a loss!
Down with the eagle and up with the cross!
We’ll rally ‘round the bonny flag, we’ll rally once again,
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!

While our boys have responded and to the fields have gone.
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!
Our noble women also have aided them at home.
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!–

Our Dixie forever! She’s never at a loss!
Down with the eagle and up with the cross!
We’ll rally ‘round the bonny flag, we’ll rally once again,
Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom!

What Happens When You Stand Up to a Bully

The media has manipulated our government and culture without any consequences. Now that the President is standing up and exposing them, their only recourse is the same for any bully: go home and run for mommy. Fake news cannot be covered up by fake tears.

They Got What They Wanted, by Robert Gore

Independence Day 2017 finds Americans celebrating freedoms they no longer have.

Maybe it was the proposal at work you knew was wrong, but didn’t fight. Maybe it was the argument on principle you knew you had to have, but avoided to keep an unsatisfactory peace. Maybe it was the jerk who berated and humiliated a store clerk who wasn’t at fault, and you didn’t challenge him. Battles that were never fought—surrender and capitulation without resistance. A handful, the scrupulously honest with themselves, identify the ensuing inner darkness, that collapsing sensation, as self-betrayal, breeching personal standards of right and wrong.

Independence Day is a historical commemorative, nothing more. You don’t celebrate the day a seed is planted; you celebrate the harvest. Independence has been surrendered without resistance. The nation’s founders planted a seed, but seeds must be tended, nurtured, and protected. Having failed to do so, America has reaped a bitter harvest.

Article V Convention: NC General Assembly Doubling Back in the Wrong Direction

On June 29, 2017 the North Carolina House voted against SJR 36, the COS application for an Article V convention. The vote was 59 against; and 53 for.

But a few hours later, COS and the Republican leadership got the members to vote to “reconsider” their vote against SJR 36 (66 to reconsider – 45 opposed). So they brought SJR 36 back to life and sent it to the House Rules Committee. There it will sit until COS and Republican leadership twist enough arms and pressure more House Republicans to vote for it.

[Below I use “Left” to describe those who want big government; and “Right” to describe those who want small government.]

It has always been the Big Money on the Left which wants an Article V convention so they can get rid of the Constitution we have and impose a new one. Some 50+ years ago, the Left came up with the proposed Constitution for the Newstates of America. Under this proposed Constitution, the States are dissolved and replaced by regional governments answerable to the new national government. It sets up a totalitarian dictatorship under which (among other things) we will be disarmed. It is ratified by a national referendum.

The Era of Incivility

Image result for civility

T.L. Davis has written an article concerning the error or civility that I suggest you read. He makes excellent points that would be hard to argue against based on his premise that a civil war is coming with the left. I agree that it is impossible to have a civil discourse with someone whose ideology and/or indoctrination supersedes your right to free speech under the 1st Amendment. How did the “United” States become so uncivil. Or should I ask “How did the the United States become so divided”? The question to be answered is how we respond to their failure of civility.

The answer is simple and our founding fathers warned us about domestic enemies and how to treat them.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
― Samuel Adams

The oath of office finalized during the War of Northern Aggression added enemies, foreign and domestic:

“I, _________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

I believe George Washington understood the issue of domestic enemies (and their root cause) better than most people today as he warned in his farewell address:

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

So what are the consequences of a House Divided? Jesus told us in Mark 3:23-29:

So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house. Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”

What did civility mean in the time of our founding fathers? Here are the 110 Rules of Civility & Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation as copied by George Washington composed by French Jesuits. Rule number 56:

Associate yourself with Men of good Quality if you Esteem your own Reputation; for ‘is better to be alone than in bad Company.

How many men do you know that would be classified as “good Quality”? And that is the problem that the colonies faced in 1775 when some of the founding fathers would not support a revolution because the people did not have the public virtue to govern themselves. What changed their minds in the short course of only one year? The people in the colonies came together for a greater purpose.

What is public virtue? That question is the foundation of the beginning of the end of the Republic because it should not even need to be asked. Everyone was taught and understood public virtue in the past:

a necessary condition for the existence of a republican government, whether democratic or aristocratic, is that the people in whom supreme power is lodged possess the quality of “ public virtue,” meaning that they are motivated by a desire to achieve the public good.

John Adams gives us the answer to why public virtue was erased from our schools and our culture:

Public virtue cannot exist in a Nation without private Virtue, and public Virtue is the only Foundation of Republics.

It is easy to see the lack of virtue on both sides. So let me propose an alternate division. Instead of submitting to the different labels used to divide us, let us use the proper division: good vs. evil. This greatly simplifies the upcoming war and the choosing of sides. But more importantly, it simplifies the consequences.

If I am correct, the paradigm of right vs. left is false. What if there is only one party now that is united with their own agenda and is using useful idiots to misdirect us? Does it matter? If we lose our civility to win the “war”, we will never restore the Republic. And that is what evil wants. I have no advice other than for you to understand that Judgment should be foremost in your mind whenever a choice presents itself.
