I would say that Deborah Ross is one of the top ten people in the state of North Carolina who has no regard for the state’s sovereignty or its people. However, I would never underestimate her prowess at making Republicans cower in fear as I saw many times in hearings like this one. The glare at the end was directed at William Gheen of ALIPAC.
Her record of supporting illegal aliens and a very progressive agenda have now propelled her to run for US Senate. What a sad day for North Carolina when the choice is between Richard Burr and Deborah Ross. Another example showing that there is no political solution.
For the record: We are the only country whose citizens (under the 14th amendment) can be called Americans. She does not even understand that we live in the United States of America. She probably thinks we should be called United Statists.

I want to start this analysis by stating that I fully understand the whirlwind of public interest in Donald Trump’s campaign. However, for those that don’t get it, let me break it down for you.
A sizable portion of the American population considers themselves “conservative.” More than 38% of U.S. citizens, according to Gallup, hold conservative political and social views. Only 24% of the public considers themselves “liberal.” Now, I realize that the term “conservative” means different things to different people, so I would apply a simple rule to categorize them — a conservative is easiest to identify by his or her distaste for normally liberal ideological views. Beyond that, different factions of conservatives disagree on a whole host of issues.
The goal of any conservative candidate that hopes to be publicly “popular,” whether he actually intends to follow through with his promises or not, is to appear to be all things to all factions; to avoid alienating one faction to appease another. After he is elected (or, after he is placed in the oval office by the powers that be), he may abandon any care for appeasing any of his constituents. Until then, he plays the game so that Americans can maintain faith in the system for at least one moment every four years.
Trump’s popularity is predicated on the fact that past Republican candidates have done little to make friends with true conservatives and have not sought alliances with the factions of conservatism that have been growing in momentum and power the past two decades. In fact, the Republican candidates presented to the citizenry in recent memory have ALL had characteristics more akin to liberal Democrats than conservative stalwarts. Mitt Romney, for instance, was essentially a carbon copy of Barack Obama in terms of political policy and voting record, with only slightly greasier complexion and equally mysterious religious background.
Hundreds of distraught ranchers and other citizens living near the increasingly dangerous U.S.-Mexico border met with elected officials in the small town of Animas, New Mexico, last week to share their horror stories of lawlessness and plead for proper border security. Despite bogus claims by politicians and the Obama administration about the southern border region allegedly being “secure,” those speaking at the summit blasted the “invasion” and said the security situation was spiraling out of control. It is time for serious action, local citizens said.
Smugglers and other criminals are pouring across the often undefended border, residents explained, jeopardizing their livelihoods and even their lives — not to mention national security. Some of the speakers had even lost loved ones in the lawlessness. And despite years of pleading with federal and state officials for help, residents, activists, and ranchers sounded exasperated, saying their pleas had gone unanswered so far. More boots on the ground are needed, locals said. At least one retired lawman suggested that sheriffs deputize citizens. Some attendees even called for deploying troops to the border.
The new House Resolution 642 was introduced in the House yesterday and recognizes magic as a rare and valuable art form and national treasure. – (No, this is for real).

Several decades ago, Saul Bellow wrote this:
For the first time in history, the human species as a whole has gone into politics. Everyone is in the act, and there is no telling what may come of it.
At this point, however, we can say what has come of it: failure. Politics has failed to deliver on nearly every promise it has made since the 1960s, and I think it’s time to hold it to account.
I was still a child in 1966, but I remember it fairly well. And I remember a good deal of the politics of the era, because my mom was involved with it. In fact, she helped to rewrite the Illinois State Constitution during those years. (Adoption came in 1970, but there were several years of work preceding it.)
So, I know what people in that time were hoping to get out of politics… what they firmly believed they would get out of politics. Here’s the list:
Bear in mind that the people who were seeking these things were decent, well-meaning people. They truly wanted the world to be better, and they believed politics would make it happen.
And to their credit, they worked to make it happen. Not only that, but their children and grandchildren have kept the faith and continued the fight. Another day, another executive order. The NSA is still spying on the people. Illegally. Congress does nothing to reign in tyranny. President Barack Obama on Monday signed an executive order to develop a center supporting counter-terrorism, as part of an effort to combat the influence of terror organizations.
According to the Executive Order that was made public, the Integrated Global Engagement Center will “lead the coordination, integration, and synchronization of Government-wide communications activities directed at foreign audiences abroad in order to counter the messaging and diminish the influence of international terrorist organizations, including the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), al Qa’ida, and other violent extremists abroad.”
