GoogleEarth is an incredible resource for Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) collection. I routinely use it for security planning and conducting Intelligence Preparation of the Community (IPC).

I placed them in two-man temporary fighting positions near the center facing out, then pointed out to each, their assigned sector of fire, limits of fire, their direct compass azimuth back to our last rally point should we have to un-ass the RON in a hurry, and the two primary exits from the thicket; the entrance was at the 6 o’clock, the uphill stream exit at the 9 o’clock and the downhill fallen tree exit at the 3 o’clock. Jim and Andy would occupy one position as fire team A (TM A) with Jim being the Team Leader (TL). Al and I would share the other position and I am the TL for fire team B (TM B). Since we were a small patrol and each of us covered a 90 degree sector, we would lie in the prone and lock ankles with our Ranger buddy. This would allow one to silently alert the other team member. Per our SOP, after occupying the RON, we conducted another 15 minute listening period.

Washington “has given the Iranians 80 percent of what they want” out of the negotiations, unnamed sources say.
Thee officials are plainly alarmed at the prospect that the U.S. will soon strike a deal with the Iranian regime that will enable it with a “breakout capacity” where it can develop a nuclear weapon within months.
Under the reported agreements, Iran will keep over 7,000 centrifuges. This will be enough for Iran to produce enough enriched material to produce a nuclear bomb within weeks.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday expressed full support for fellow lawmaker Sen. Lindsey Graham if the South Carolina Republican runs for the White House in 2016.
“He’s smart, he’s got a great American story,” McCain said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” Graham announced last week that he is launching a committee to explore a campaign.
“There is no one in America that knows better than Lindsey Graham the threats to this country,” McCain said, noting that Graham has served in Baghdad and Kabul as an Air Force Reserve colonel.
“He knows the men and the women in the military…I’m proud of his service to the country,” he said.
McCain voiced only tepid support for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), noting that his former running mate “still has a strong base of support around the country.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ruling Likud Party hit back Sunday at a U.S.-linked organization staffed with former Obama campaigners now working to defeat Netanyahu in an upcoming general election.
Victory 2015, or V15, attracted U.S. media attention after it hired 270 Strategies, a consulting firm whose senior leadership is comprised mostly of former top staffers for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.
During a press conference Sunday, the Likud Party officially accused V15 and other related nonprofits of being supported “through millions of dollars funneled from Europe, the U.S. and the New Israel Fund and international factors interested in bringing down Prime Minister Netanyahu” who think “that all means are appropriate.”
The Likud further called for Israel’s Central Elections Committee to outlaw V15′s activities to “ensure the integrity of the election.”
The party today will be filing an official complaint with the Committee seeking an injunction against V15, Likud sources said.
Reacting to the developments, Uri Wollman, V15′s spokesman, told WND his organization will not stop its campaign to ensure a center-left coalition forms the next government in Israel.

As a former conservative myself, I know that conservatives consider politicians and the system of government to be separate political entities. They frequently clamor about politicians not abiding by the Constitution, the founding document of the United States. This point of confusion is a major error in reasoning that pervades every right-wing talking point. A pro-Russian separatist leader says Ukrainian troops near a Donetsk region town are surrounded and should surrender their weapons or face death.
Russian state news agency RIA Novosti has quoted Aleksandr Zakharchenko as saying rebel forces have surrounded Ukrainian units near Debaltseve, a flashpoint in the recent escalation of a conflict that has killed more than 5,100 people in eastern Ukraine since April.
Zakharchenko reportedly said on January 30 that the Ukrainian troops’ lives would be spared if they handed over their weapons.
The demand comes amid expectations of a new round of talks between representatives of the rebels, Ukraine, Russia, and the OSCE on January 30 in the Belarusian capital, Minsk.
The rebels have made gains recently in what the United States has called a ‘Russian-backed offensive’ that violates the terms of an agreement on a cease-fire and steps toward peace signed in Minsk in September.

The Jerusalem bureau chief of the Washington Post was invited by Hamas to spend some time in two of their training camps for young Palestinian men.
Far more young men try to enlist with Hamas than can be accommodated. More than 17,000 young men of 17 to 21 are training with “the Hamas military wing, the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades.” These young men are dedicated to Jihad and anxious to take revenge on Israel.
State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki declined on Friday to directly say whether the murder of three U.S. civilians at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Thursday—which the Taliban claimed responsibility for–was an act of terrorism.
“Obviously any attack that kills contractors, that kills individuals who are working there in harm’s way, is horrific and a tragedy but I’m not going to put new labels on it today.”
She also said: “We see a difference between Taliban and ISIL.”

The federal government is considering allowing those of Middle Eastern and North African descent to identify as such on the next 10-year census, which could give Arab-Americans and other affected groups greater political clout and access to public funding, among other things.
The U.S. Census Bureau will test the new Middle East-North Africa (MENA) classification for possible inclusion on the 2020 census if it gets enough positive feedback about the proposed change by Sunday, when the public comment period ends.
Arab-Americans, who make up the majority of those who would be covered by the MENA classification, have previously been classified by default as white on the census, which helps determine congressional district boundaries and how billions of dollars in federal funding are allocated, among other things.
Those pushing for the MENA classification say it would more fully and accurately count them, thus increasing their visibility and influence among policymakers.

The founding charter of Hamas calls not just for the eradication of Israel but for the killing of Jews everywhere. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah welcomes Jewish emigration to Israel — because it makes the killing easier: ‘’If Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide.’’ And, of course, Iran openly declares as its sacred mission the annihilation of Israel.
For America, Europe and the moderate Arabs there are powerful reasons having nothing to do with Israel for trying to prevent an apocalyptic, fanatically anti-Western clerical regime in Tehran from getting the bomb: Iranian hegemony, nuclear proliferation (including to terror groups) and elemental national security.
For Israel, however, the threat is of a different order. Direct, immediate and mortal.
The sophisticates cozily assure us not to worry. Deterrence will work. Didn’t it work against the Soviets? Well, just 17 years into the atomic age, we came harrowingly close to deterrence failure and all-out nuclear war. Moreover, godless communists anticipate no reward in heaven. Atheists calculate differently from jihadists with their cult of death. Name one Soviet suicide bomber.
