It saddens me to need to take up cudgels against a stance taken by a dear friend. Yet intellectual honesty and loyalty to my own convictions has made it necessary.

Before going any further, please read this piece at Adrienne’s Corner. Settle yourself and your own opinions about the incident described and the reactions to it you’ve just read.

I hold no brief for Alex Jones – in fact, I’ve never read his site or his writings – so I’m coming at this without any personal allegiances to defend. My quarrel is over:

1. Local police departments possessing and deploying military-grade hardware that private citizens are forbidden to have;
2. A law enforcement officer disparaging “well armed” “constitutionalists” to an arbitrary audience;
3. Treating the rule of law, a critically important and almost wholly misunderstood principle of ethical and constitutional theory, as if it requires each of us to submit to any and every “law” some legislature hurls at us without resistance.

In my opinion, all three of the above matters are despicable. If what I’ve read here has been accurately reported, then this sheriff has displayed an unacceptable degree of contempt for one of the most important developments of our time: the formation of militias of private citizens in the hope of curbing the rampant overreaching and lawlessness that characterizes contemporary American governments.

I don’t care for Alex Jones presentation but this short clip is very telling. Get to know your local police and sheriff deputies now. It allows you to determine who will be on the side of the rule of law in the future. It may also save your life.

Davy is a former Navy corpsman with two tours in Afghanistan, and talks a bit about tactical medicine as well.

Comments on the last post on Magnetic Declination disagree with, or at least minimized the importance of magnetic declination with the general feeling that, ” …’15 degrees’ isn’t that much of an error” or, “15 degrees will only result in a little bit of extra walking..,” or “I can get where I’m going…”

Now, I’m sure that guys and gals out there who’ve been hunting in one area or another (no matter how large) all their lives and have well used topographical 7.5 minute maps can get from point A to point B and so on with a cursory look at their map and shooting a general bearing with their compass.  The primary tool they use is familiarity with the AO (a good thing) and terrain association with the compass used as a back up.  Ergo, they may not think they need to worry about declination.  And, in that particular scenario, those making claims like that are most likely  100% correct.

Over the past five years I have spent thousands of hours studying the coming economic collapse.  In my articles you can find tens of thousands of facts and statistics that prove that the U.S. economy is hurtling toward oblivion.

It is not always the most pleasant thing to write about, but it is the truth.  And that is what matters.  If you believe that I am wrong, prove it to me.  I work very hard to put out the most accurate information that I possibly can.  So if you can prove that I am wrong, I will change my mind.

But of course that is not going to happen.  As I have stated previously, anyone with half a brain should be able to see that we are living in the greatest debt bubble in human history.  Anyone with half a brain should be able to see that the “too big to fail” banks are being extraordinarily reckless (derivatives, etc.).  Anyone with half a brain should be able to see that our formerly great manufacturing cities are being transformed into crime-infested hellholes.  Anyone with half a brain should be able to see that the middle class is dying.  Anyone with half a brain should be able to see that the exact same patterns that led up to the great financial crisis of 2008 are happening again.  Anyone with half a brain should be able to see that we simply cannot consume far more wealth than we produce as a nation indefinitely.  Anyone with half a brain should be able to see that the incredibly foolish decisions that our politicians have been making for decades have placed us on a road to utter disaster.

So it doesn’t take anyone special to do what I am doing.  I am just a “watchman on the wall” sounding the alarm the best that I can.  And there are lots of others that are doing the same thing.  We are deeply concerned about where this nation is heading, and we have been pleading with our leaders to do something about it for a long time but they have not listened to us.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday ordered to fully equip the land-based component of Russia’s nuclear triad with advanced intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) by 2021.

‘In mid-term perspective – by 2021 – we need to fully equip land-based strategic nuclear forces with modern weaponry,’ Putin said at a meeting with senior military commanders in Moscow.

Putin added that the Russian strategic nuclear forces will receive more than 50 ICBM in 2015.

Weakness never wins a war.

The federal government issued a warning Friday about additional cyber attacks using the malicious software from the Sony Pictures cyber attack.

The U.S. Computer Emergency Response Team (US-CERT) said the targeted destructive malware affecting Microsoft Windows systems could be used in additional attacks.

“US-CERT was recently notified by a trusted third party of cyber threat actors using a Server Message Block (SMB) Worm Tool to conduct cyber exploitation activities recently targeting a major entertainment company,” the notice states.

The FBI said in a statement Friday that the Sony attack was carried out by “the North Korean government.”

The cyber attack “destroyed systems and stole large quantities of personal and commercial data.” The perpetrators posed as members of a group calling itself the Guardians of Peace.

The North Korean link was confirmed through technical analysis of the malware that is similar to software used by North Korea in the past.
