Operation URBAN CHARGER – Ferguson Riots

Guerrillamerica

We’ll be spinning up the Virtual Analysis & Control Element (ACE) to battle track the potential Ferguson riots under the name Operation URBAN CHARGER.  If you’d like to sign on as a collector or analyst, get in touch with me on Unseen (Guerrillamerica) and request to be added to the Collection or Analysis cell.  We’ll be generating Intel Requirements and tasking out collection, and then publishing our findings, to include lessons learned and other key observations.  If you live in the area and are willing to pass us the latest scuttlebutt, please get in touch.

It’ll be a great way to practice some of the things we’ve talked about on this blog; a dry run for the future, if you will.  I have a couple tools that we’ll be incorporating into this iteration, that we haven’t used in the past.

I’ll build out the new Op URBAN CHARGER page this weekend and we can begin coordination for the op.  If you want to kick things off by generating some intel requirements in preparation, then you can email me or post them below.

Local Stability in a “Dirty Civil War”

Guerrillamerica

In the Fall issue of Forward Observer Magazine, I had the great opportunity to interview Matthew Bracken, a former Navy SEAL and prolific author (I know you’ve heard of him), about the future of conflict in America.  A potential scenario he talked about was the “dirty civil war”, where a group of well-meaning Americans goes rogue by doing something really stupid (like indiscriminately killing cops or other officials, for instance).  That event or those actions start a chain reaction of copy cats and reprisals, things get really dirty, really fast, and our nation descends into chaos; one side too uncoordinated and unskilled to make any appreciable gains, and the other too brutal in their pursuit, resulting in too much collateral damage to take control of the situation and gain the support of the populace… thus the inability by both sides to end the conflict.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about this scenario, and one thing that really concerns me is providing stability in our own communities during the potential protracted conflict described above.  I started looking through my library and found a Naval Post-Graduate School paper entitled, Rethinking Militias: Recognizing the Potential Role of Militia Groups in Nation-Building.  (A highly recommended read; published in 2007.)  This paper was written by two Army Majors, and they begin by saying that the negative view by the media of militias is misguided.  I agree.  In my experience, although there are still plenty of the grossly amateur militias out there, with the returning of combat veterans, the number and quality of semi-professional militias and defense groups is growing.  Realistically, in a “dirty civil war” scenario, we will need to participate in these types of Constitutional militias (yeah, we’re already lawfully in the militia, I know) to aid local law enforcement, or to resist tyranny.  (Of course, this scenario really is a worst case type of event, but it may apply to other potential scenarios as well.  The only reason I write about it is because, like Matt, I actually do think it’s a possibility that multiple idiots go indiscriminately attacking cops, which leads to the proverbial “stuff” rolling downhill onto everyone else.  I’d really like to avoid that.)

The authors provide some parameters for the word ‘militia’, and I’m a fan of these two following descriptions:

What You Need to Know About the Mosquito-Borne Disease Ravaging the Caribbean

What You Need to Know About the Mosquito-Borne Disease Ravaging the Caribbean

If you’re traveling to the Caribbean anytime soon, bring the DEET. Chikungunya, a virulent mosquito-borne illness with no known cure is sweeping the islands. The disease is similar to dengue and causes extreme muscle pain that can last months or even years; it has been fatal in rare cases.

Historically, chikungunya (pronounced chik-en-GUN-ya), which was first discovered in Tanzania in 1952, has been more prevalent in Africa and Asia. Saint Martin was the first location in the Western Hemisphere to report cases of the disease in December 2013. In recent months it has spread across the region, with over 10,000 cases on islands like Guadeloupe and Martinique. Even tony Saint Bart’s hasn’t been spared. There have also been isolated cases as far away as Florida and Venezuela.

WENDY DAVIS CAMPAIGN BLAMES LOSS ON EBOLA

Texas State Senator Wendy Davis was steamrolled in her bid to become the state’s next governor, and it appears that her staff believes Ebola has something to do with the failure of her campaign.

Speaking on behalf of Davis’ campaign, Communications Director Zac Petkanas told the Wall Street Journal, “The losses that you are seeing in very blue states are simply amplified in states like Texas where there is already a structural advantage for Republicans,” he said. The Journal added that, “Another challenge, [Petkanas] said, was that Texas was at the center of two issues — immigration and the Ebola scare — that helped drive Republican voters to the polls.”

Teacher admits he helped write Common Core to end white privilege

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our children are nothing more than pawns to our “leaders”. The government has one goal: to make useful idiots to support their insatiable lust for power.
So the assertion is that Common Core will level the playing field and eliminate White Privilege. So what did the trillions of dollars spent on the Department of Education accomplish? The graduation rate is the same. And now this “teacher” states that non-white children are not able to read.
NATO Confirmed: Tanks Enter Ukraine From Russia
Dozens Of Tanks Enter Ukraine From Russia
NATO sources have confirmed the Russian military invasion of Ukraine after a column of 32 tanks entered the country from Russia.
The convoy made up of 32 tanks, 16 howitzer cannons and 30 trucks of troops and equipment crossed the border into the rebel-controlled Luhansk region.
“The deployment continues of military equipment and Russian mercenaries to the front lines,” Ukraine’s military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said in a televised briefing.
The news sparked panic in Russia’s currency market, with the euro reaching the 60 ruble mark for the first time, in a year when it has lost more than a third of its value against the US dollar.
Reid plots final days in power
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) hopes to confirm 50 of President Obama’s nominees and move an omnibus spending bill in a last hurrah before Democrats give up power in the Senate.
The nominees are part of a packed lame-duck schedule that Reid is furiously planning, and that will be a topic at Friday’s White House lunch meeting between Obama and congressional leaders.
That will be a challenge not only because of the tight schedule, but because of expected clashes between Democrats over what should be prioritized before Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) takes over the Senate’s agenda in January.
For example, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), who is about to lose his chairmanship, is pushing for consideration of a bill reforming the National Security Agency despite opposition from other Democrats.
One of the most pressing needs from the administration’s point of view is getting the Senate to confirm as many as 38 State Department nominees, but Reid will have to be judicious given the priorities fighting for precious floor time in the Senate.
‘Trojan Horse’ Bug Lurking in Vital US Computers Since 2011
A destructive “Trojan Horse” malware program has penetrated the software that runs much of the nation’s critical infrastructure and is poised to cause an economic catastrophe, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
National Security sources told ABC News there is evidence that the malware was inserted by hackers believed to be sponsored by the Russian government, and is a very serious threat.
The hacked software is used to control complex industrial operations like oil and gas pipelines, power transmission grids, water distribution and filtration systems, wind turbines and even some nuclear plants. Shutting down or damaging any of these vital public utilities could severely impact hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Vaccine-resistant polio strain discovered
The global initiative to eradicate poliomyelitis through routine vaccination has helped reduce the number of cases by more than 99% in 30 years, from an estimated 350,000 cases in 1988 to 650 reported cases in 2011. However, major epidemics are still occurring today, such as the ones in the Republic of the Congo in 2010, Tajikistan in 2010, and China in 2011. The epidemic outbreak in 2010 in the Republic of the Congo differed from the others in its exceptionally high mortality rate of 47%: out of the 445 confirmed cases, nearly 210 died. The researchers first attributed the seriousness of the epidemic to low vaccine coverage.
Newly identified mutations of the virus
In reality, the cause was something completely different. An international team including IRD researchers has just identified the virus responsible and sequenced its genetic material. The genetic sequence shows two mutations, unknown until now, of the proteins that form the “shell” (capsid) of the virus. On the face of it, this evolution complicates the task for the antibodies produced by the immune system of the vaccinated patient as they can no longer recognize the viral strain.
