It’s Time To Send the GOP a Message

Republicans have proved once again that they’re out of touch with what Americans want.

House Republicans last week overwhelmingly endorsed suing President Barack Obama for delaying part of the Affordable Care Act, a law Republicans hate and condemn and voted 50 times to repeal. So, really, the president did exactly what the GOP claims it wants. But they’re suing anyway.

On the other side of the Capitol, Senate Republicans last week prevented repair of a law that 99.99 percent of Americans hate and condemn and would vote 50 times to repeal, given the chance. The GOP blocked a bill that would have ended tax breaks bestowed on corporations for offshoring factories and jobs.

Only one Senate Republican  voted for the Bring Jobs Home Act—the bill that would have replaced corporate reprobate rebates with rewards for firms that move factories back to America. Americans of all political persuasions object to paying higher taxes to offset the cost of coddling corporate defectors. The GOP’s filibustering of this bill is dereliction of duty. So let’s sue. And look at it this way, even if this is a lost cause—and it is—the more time Republicans must spend in court, the less time they have to obstruct the will of the people.

Strategic Geography and the Invasion of Texas – Come And Take It

So as we look at the invasion of Texas, which really is decades old, I can’t help but wonder, along with everyone else, just when the Texas Emergency is going to come to a head.  We look at places like eastern Ukraine where large, ethnically Russian and pro-Russian groups and militias have separated themselves from Ukraine.  The Euromaidan and the following civil war sparked a number of secession movements that resulted in Crimean independence and later Russian annexation, the formation of the Lugansk People’s Republic, and the formation of the Donetsk People’s Republic.  Although Lugansk and Donetsk are both still considered by the international community to be part of Ukraine, don’t say that to the Russians who live there.

The likelihood that we see pro-Mexico militias seize and return U.S. land to Mexico, like what’s happened in eastern Ukraine, is quite low (right now)… but the sentiment exists.  The likelihood that we see increased violence and attempts to set in place Bracken’s Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista is much higher.

Voting in elections to maintain a government composed of domestic enemies is just adding links to your chains. Revolution is mandated by our Declaration of Independence when governments become tyrannical.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. 

Participating in a system doomed to fail is illogical. Fear never is a means to regain Liberty.

Report: Government Accounting Hides Debt

Your state may not be as fiscally solvent as politicians have led you to believe, according to a new report.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) released a report in July detailing the multi-trillion dollar gap in state pension funding that could soon render many states, including Illinois and California, insolvent. The report paints a dire picture of a relatively obscure political issue that has been decades in the making and could drive entire states into bankruptcy.

“The rules that apply to government accounting of public pension plans enable governments to use rosy assumptions about investment returns to make pension assets look sufficient to cover pension liabilities,” the report says. “Many government reports show pension plans being well-funded, even though the accounting standards used by private companies in the United States and most governments throughout the world would show they are not.”

What Will It Mean If The Potential Ebola Victim In New York City Actually Has The Virus?

On Monday, we learned that a “possible Ebola patient” was being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.  We are being told that this individual recently returned from a country in Africa where there have been confirmed cases of Ebola.  So that would narrow it down to Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and Nigeria.  The patient is being described as a male “with high fever and gastrointestinal symptoms“.  The hospital says that “necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff“.  But could you imagine the panic that is going to be created if there actually is a confirmed case of Ebola in the heart of New York City?  There is nothing in the post-World War II era that would even be comparable.  Certainly 9/11 created fear for a short period of time, but a full-blown Ebola outbreak would create a panic that could potentially last for months or even years.

And this comes on the heels of another Ebola scare in the United Kingdom.  According to a British news source, a seriously ill 72-year-old woman “collapsed and died” after getting off a plane from Sierra Leone at Gatwick Airport…

What it really means is that the people who care more about themselves than principles will infect the rest of the country. They will not quarantine themselves and in most cases will not understand the consequences of their actions. Which explains the state of the country now: morally and financially bankrupt.

SHERIFF URGES RESIDENTS OF HARNETT COUNTY, NC TO ARM THEMSELVES TO BATTLE CRIME

The Harnett County sheriff expressed concern Monday evening about a recent spike of violent crime, and he’s even told residents to start arming themselves.

More than 100 people packed the sanctuary of the Spring Hill United methodist Church Monday Night for a community meeting on crime. There has been an explosion of violence and crime in the area, especially in the last few weeks.

Sheriff Larry Rollins told the crowd that the violence is fueled by gangs and drugs. He urged everyone to protect themselves, saying he doesn’t go anywhere without a gun.
